1) Extend the Active Directory schema

On Mail Server install:

 .Net Framework 3.5


 .Net framework 4.5
Install the Remote Tools Administration Pack.

On a Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2012 computer, run the following
command.

 Install-WindowsFeature RSAT-ADDS
 Prepare schema for the Exchange Server 2013 installation.

Exchange Server 2013 schema changes


Setup.exe /PrepareSchema /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
2) Active Directory Preparation

 Run the following command:


 Setup.exe /PrepareAD /OrganizationName:"<organization name>"
/IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
Setup.exe /PrepareAD /OrganizationName:”Contoso” /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
3) Install only the Mailbox server role on a computer.

Install only the Client Access server role on a computer.

Install both the Mailbox and Client Access server roles on the same computer.

Do the following to install the required Windows roles and features:

A. Open Windows PowerShell.


B. Run the following command to install the required Windows components.
C. Install-WindowsFeature AS-HTTP-Activation, Desktop-Experience, NET-Framework-45-
Features, RPC-over-HTTP-proxy, RSAT-Clustering, RSAT-Clustering-CmdInterface, RSAT-
Clustering-Mgmt, RSAT-Clustering-PowerShell, Web-Mgmt-Console, WAS-Process-Model,
Web-Asp-Net45, Web-Basic-Auth, Web-Client-Auth, Web-Digest-Auth, Web-Dir-
Browsing, Web-Dyn-Compression, Web-Http-Errors, Web-Http-Logging, Web-Http-
Redirect, Web-Http-Tracing, Web-ISAPI-Ext, Web-ISAPI-Filter, Web-Lgcy-Mgmt-Console,
Web-Metabase, Web-Mgmt-Console, Web-Mgmt-Service, Web-Net-Ext45, Web-Request-
Monitor, Web-Server, Web-Stat-Compression, Web-Static-Content, Web-Windows-Auth,
Web-WMI, Windows-Identity-Foundation, RSAT-ADDS
4) After installing the required server roles and features Download and Install the Microsoft

Unified

5) Download and Install the Microsoft Office 2010 Filter Pack 64 bit software.
6) Download and Install the Microsoft Office 2010 Filter Pack SP1 64 bit.

7) Install Exchange Server 2013


Installing Exchange Server 2013 can take between 20 and 50 minutes, depending on the
components that are installed and your server performance. After installation finishes, you
can begin to configure your deployment.

Verify Exchange Server installation

1) Click to the Start screen and then type adsi edit, and then press Enter.

 Right-click ADSI Edit, and then click Connect to.


 In the Connection Settings dialog box, in the Connection Point section, in the Select a
well-known Naming Context list, click Configuration, and then click OK.
 In the left pane, expand Configuration [DC.Contoso.Local], and then click
CN=Configuration, DC=Contoso, DC=Local.
 Expand CN=Services, and verify that the CN=Microsoft Exchange has been created.
 Close ADSI Edit.
2) On LON-EX1, open the Server Manager console, and then click Tools.

 Select Services.
 Scroll down the list of services, and click the Microsoft Exchange Active Directory
Topology service. Review the service description.
 Review the status of the remaining Exchange Server services. Ensure that all services
that are set for Automatic startup are running.
 Close Services.
