Whilst completing the course MGT420 Management, I had gained new experiences
and better insights on planning, organizing, leading and controlling of human and other
resources to achieve organizational goals efficiently and effectively. In the planning stage,
establishment of objectives and mission statements is done. I also learn strategies are evaluation
and reviewing of the specification of the applications process. The organizing stage involves
the determination of a way in which business will conduct its operations. Human resource is
one of the important factor in every work. Workers must have a clear direction regarding to
the enterprise performance in the leading stage. The management also should set examples in
the process. Example should be set and with a proper communication in the execution of the
enterprise in this case. Finally, the control process involves accessing and monitoring of the
applications that put in the business enterprise. All of these stage can be practiced on our daily.
Finding my strengths not so easy and not so hard for me. I can understand a concept of
management easily. Many of the things I was tested on and went over in this class helped me
to increase my understanding on planning, organizing, leading and controlling of human.
Firstly, in planning stage. I need to analyse my rules as my current role as a student. Set up my
targets and practise them. For example, I want to obtain first class honour for my degree and I
needed to work hard for it. Next is organizing, I needed to identify the ways to I achieve all
goals. I may choose the method of study to let my study more effectively. Then disribute time
efficiently for different activities. Other than study hard, I still have leisure time for
entertainment as well. Third, I became to be a group leader in group assignment by leading the
others. To motivate others, I will be the volunteer to teach my friends in a study group. I can
balance my recreational activities and study by constantly review the plans and schedules while
in controlling. I also must to score well for my coursework so that I will have higher chance to
achieve all of my goals.

With the vast amount of material given to me in management class, I have increased my
understanding of an effective management. Ones skill in management requires a constant
practice. Managers who too lazy to continue practicing will eventually find their career in
decay. Good management is practiced in many forms and in a great diversity of business
situations. There are basic principles of how to manage, but they would be applied differently
in different situations. Organization that led by a good managers is a clear set of strategic
objectives or skills in an effective management. Some of the strategic objectives or skills are
communication, motivation, listening, teamwork, interpersonal skill and goals. Nothing could
be easier than failing to communicate. Nowadays people are beginning to understand how
important good communication really is and applied in daily life.
I am pretty sure that I will be using this skill in future. According to Henry Ford “Coming
together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success”. Meaning
or definition of teamwork, in general terms means that efficient and effective team efforts are
always ahead of the individual’s reach. Hence, the best result of teamworkby using the skill is
produced when all individual in the group are focused towards goals. In order to inspire the
employees to a greater level, companies need a Leader. I believe in the saying that ‘Leaders
are made not born’. Anyone who has the willpower and the desire can be a potential leader. I
am going to be a great leader wich is developed by proper education, experience over the years
and the right training. Over the period of time, the leaders also have to keep them up-to-date
by the process of continuous learning. Thus, leadership is a process I will used to motivate
other people in order to achieve the desired goals and objectives of the company. I take a
perfect example of a leader is Mahatma Gandhi, who fought the non-violence fight for the
freedom of his nation, India, having the entire nation as his followers. I believe that by using
teamwork skill in future, I will be able to produced very high quality performance.

Completing the self assessment pages has helped me realize my strengths and weaknesses
not only as a student myself, but also as a manager if I were to become one. The various
assignments and activities in this class really helped me understand and realize where I stand,
what I exceed in and what I need to work on management. I discovered that I am a very
understanding and social manager and employee, I connect, adapt and form relationships with
people fairly easy, and I will able to perform a job effectively and efficiently. Every decision
made within the group becomes a team effort with the goal of producing maximum results.
Most of the times when we try to look up on what a group is supposed to do most of the time
it is not that way.
Teamwork is all about how I work with groups and other team members, most of the time
it is hard to do but with our jobs nowadays we have to do what we have to do. I love to work
with others and I found that working in team is easier, especially when they are motivated in
getting the job done in a timely manner. Then we have some that just don’t want to help but
want everybody else to do their work for them. For me, working in groups you will have to
know who is who and what they like to do, and then you can do what it is that has to be done
for that group. Then, group dynamics is when we interact with all groups that involved with
the project. From my own experience I like to just go and see who I’m working with and what
it is that we have to do.
In this era, me as a student have become more competitive and are eager to get information
from any source that I can access to. I can easily get information for any subject that I learn
from books, internet and guidance from lecturer. I gain knowledge by books, articles or other
source because of my experienced and I will be able to gathered the information. But data on
sites such as Wikipedia might not be a valid information beacuse it can be changed by any
individual without any investigation by the website handlers.

I do like the best about the project is working in a team because I also love to work life
stress free, what we need is a little fun at work or while doing tasks. I believe that teamwork
will create a little more fun at work. Working in a team is inspiring, fun and brings pleasure. It
brings humour and promotes friendship among members. By making our work or tasks
environment a happy place, we will automatically spur productivity and a positive attitude to
work. We will try team building activities like icebreaker activities, go out together on team
lunch or dinner to boost team spirit and bring about positive attitudes. Most important is
celebrate small wins and share your memories, encourage hobbies at work and see how
working in a team will make work more fun.
My suggestion for improvement when it starts at the top is the role of leader. If someone
don’t already have good teamwork at the grassroots level, then it is the time for the leadership
team to lead. For example, they are the one that the rest of your company look to for guidance,
so they should be establishing teamwork as the normal. Their behaviour will flow down
through the company to leaders at each level of the company, then to all members of the teams.
The whole organization will come to accept and expect this type of working. Next,
improvement in communicate. Good communication is of great teamwork. Great teams
communicate well and often, their members are happy to share ideas, brainstorm together, ask
for feedback, and be contradicted. This doesn’t mean the team members always agree, but they
are able to communicate through their differences to settle on solution and continue moving
forwards as a team.
