The Legacy Of Sayyidina Rasoolullah
Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah 400
'Amr ibn al-Harith, the brother of Juwairiyya, told us:
"Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) left nothing behind except his weaponry, his female
mule and some land which he had others give away as charity.”
‫ َم ا‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬،‫ َأِخ ي ُج َو ْيِر َيَة َلُه ُص ْح َبٌة‬،‫ َعْن َعْم ِر و ْبِن اْلَح اِر ِث‬، ‫ َعْن َأِبي ِإْس َح اَق‬،‫ َح َّدَثَنا ِإْس َر اِئيُل‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬،‫ َح َّدَثَنا ُح َسْيُن ْبُن ُمَحَّم ٍد‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬،‫َح َّدَثَنا َأْح َم ُد ْبُن َم ِنيٍع‬
‫‏‬.‫ َو َأْر ًض ا َجَعَلَه ا َص َدَق ‏ًة‬،‫ َو َبْغَلَتُه‬،‫َتَر َك َر ُسوُل ِهللا صلى هللا عليه وسلم ِإال ِس الَح ُه‬

Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah 401
Abu Huraira said (may Allah be well pleased with him):
“Fatima came to Abu Bakr and said: ‘Who will inherit from you?’ He said: ‘My wives and my offspring,’ so she
said: ‘Why should I not inherit from my father?’ Abu Bakr said: ‘I heard Allah’s Messenger say (Allah bless him
and give him peace): “We will not be inherited from,” but I support those whom Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless
him and give him peace) used to support, and I provide for those for whom Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him
and give him peace) used to provide.’”
‫ َج اَء ْت َفاِط َم ُة ِإَلى‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬،‫ َعْن َأِبي ُهَر ْيَر َة‬،‫ َعْن َأِبي َسَلَم َة‬،‫ َعْن ُمَحَّم ِد ْبِن َعْم ٍر و‬،‫ َح َّدَثَنا َحَّم اُد ْبُن َسَلَم َة‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬،‫ َح َّدَثَنا َأُبو اْلَو ِليِد‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬،‫َح َّدَثَنا ُمَحَّم ُد ْبُن اْلُم َثَّنى‬
، ‫ ال ُنوَر ُث‬:‫ َيُقوُل‏‏‬،‫ َسِم ْعُت َر ُسوَل ِهللا صلى هللا عليه وسلم‬:‫ َم ا ِلي ال َأِر ُث َأِبي‏ ‏؟ َفَقاَل َأُبو َبْك ٍر‏‏‬:‫ َفَقاَلْت‏‏‬،‫‏ َأْه ِلي َو َو َلِدي‬:‫ َم ْن َيِر ُثَك‏ ‏؟ َفَقاَل‏‬:‫ َفَقاَلْت‏‏‬، ‫َأِبي َبْك ٍر‬
‫‏‬.‫ َو ُأْنِفُق َعَلى َم ْن َكاَن َر ُسوُل ِهللا صلى هللا عليه وسلم ُيْنِفُق َعَلْيِه‏‬،‫ َيُعوُلُه‬،‫َو َلِكِّني َأُعوُل َم ْن َكاَن َر ُسوُل ِهللا صلى هللا عليه وسلم‬

Abu’l-Bakhtari reported:
that al-'Abbas and 'Ali came to 'Umar quarreling, each of them saying to his companion: “You are such-and-
such, you are such-and-such!” 'Umar therefore said to Talha, az-Zubair, 'Abd ar-Rahman ibn 'Awf and Sa'd (may
Allah the Exalted be well pleased with them): “I adjure you by Allah, have you heard Allah’s Messenger say

(Allah bless him and give him peace): ‘Every possession of a Prophet is a charitable donation, except what
provides him with food. No one shall inherit from us!'"(This tradition is part of a longer story.)

‫‏ َأْنُشُدُكْم‬:‫ َو َسْعٍد‏‬، ‫ َو َعْبِد الَّر ْح َمِن ْبِن َعْو ٍف‬، ‫ َو الُّز َبْيِر‬،‫ ِلَطْلَح َة‬، ‫ َفَقاَل ُعَم ُر‬،‫ َأْنَت َكَذا‬،‫‏ َأْنَت َكَذا‬:‫ َيُقوُل ُكُّل َو اِح ٍد ِم ْنُه َم ا ِلَص اِح ِبِه‏‬، ‫َج اَء ا ِإَلى ُعَمَر َيْخ َتِص َم اِن‬
‫‏‬.‫ ِإَّنا ال ُنوَر ُث‏ ‏؟ َو ِفي اْلَح ِديِث ِقَّص ‏ٌة‬،‫ ِإال َم ا َأْط َعَم ُه‬،‫ ُكُّل َم اِل َنِبٍّي َص َدَقٌة‬:‫ َيُقوُل‏‏‬،‫ِباِهَّلل َأَسِم ْعُتْم َر ُسوَل ِهللا صلى هللا عليه وسلم‬

'A’isha said (may Allah be well pleased with her):
"Allah’s Messenger said (Allah bless him and give him peace): 'We are not inherited from. Whatever we leave
behind is a charitable donation.’”

Abu Huraira (may Allah be well pleased with him) reported:
"The Prophet said (Allah bless him and give him peace): 'My legacy will not be distributed as gold coin, nor as
silver coin. Whatever I leave beyond support for my wives and the provisions for my workman will be a
charitable donation.'”
‫ َعِن الَّنِبِّي صلى هللا عليه‬،‫ َعْن َأِبي ُهَر ْيَر َة‬،‫ َعِن اَألْع َر ِج‬،‫ َعْن َأِبي الِّز َناِد‬، ‫ َح َّدَثَنا ُسْفَياُن‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬،‫ َح َّدَثَنا َعْبُد الَّر ْح َمِن ْبُن َم ْه ِد ٍّي‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬، ‫َح َّدَثَنا ُمَحَّم ُد ْبُن َبَّشاٍر‬
‫‏‬.‫ َم ا َتَر ْك ُت َبْعَد َنَفَقِة ِنَساِئي َو ُم ْؤ َنِة َعاِم ِلي َفُه َو َص َدَق ‏ٌة‬،‫ ال َيْقِس ُم َو َر َثِتي ِديَناًر ا َو ال ِدْر َهًم ا‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬،‫وسلم‬

Malik bin Aws ibn al-Hadtahan said:
“I entered the presence of 'Umar, after which 'Abd ar- Rahman ibn 'Awf and Talha and Sa'd entered his presence,
and 'Ali and al-'Abbas came in quarreling, so 'Umar said to them: ‘I adjure you by the One with whose
permission the heaven and the earth exist, do you know that Allah’s Messenger said (Allah bless him and give
him peace): 'We are not inherited from. Whatever we leave behind is a charitable donation'?"
‫‏ َدَخ ْلُت َعَلى‬:‫ َقاَل‏‬، ‫ َعْن َم اِلِك ْبِن َأْو ِس ْبِن اْلَح َدَثاِن‬،‫ َعِن الُّز ْه ِر ِّي‬، ‫ َسِم ْعُت َم اِلَك ْبَن َأَنٍس‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬، ‫ َح َّدَثَنا ِبْش ُر ْبُن ُعَمَر‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬،‫َح َّدَثَنا اْلَحَسُن ْبُن َعِلٍّي اْلَخالُل‬
، ‫‏ َأْنُشُدُكْم ِباَّلِذي ِبِإْذِنِه َتُقوُم الَّسَم اُء َو اَألْر ُض‬:‫ َفَقاَل َلُهْم ُعَم ُر‏‬، ‫ َيْخ َتِص َم اِن‬، ‫ َو اْلَعَّباُس‬، ‫ َو َج اَء َعِلٌّي‬،‫ َو َسْعٌد‬،‫ َو َطْلَح ُة‬، ‫ُعَمَر َفَدَخَل َعَلْيِه َعْبُد الَّر ْح َمِن ْبُن َعْو ٍف‬
‫‏‬.‫‏ الَّلُهَّم َنَعْم َو ِفي اْلَح ِديِث ِقَّص ٌة َطِو يَل ‏ٌة‬:‫ َفَقاُلوا‏‬،‫ َم ا َتَر ْك َناُه َص َدَقٌة‬، ‫ ال ُنوَر ُث‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬،‫َأَتْعَلُم وَن َأَّن َر ُسوَل ِهللا صلى هللا عليه وسلم‬

Zirr ibn Hubaish reports that A’isha said (may Allah be well pleased with her):
“Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) did not leave behind a gold coin, nor a silver coin, nor
a sheep, nor a camel.” Then he added, “And I suspect she said, 'nor a male and female slave.'”
‫ َم ا َتَر َك‬:‫ َقاَلْت‏‏‬،‫ َعْن َعاِئَشَة‬، ‫ َعْن ِز ِّر ْبِن ُحَبْيٍش‬،‫ َعْن َعاِص ِم اْبِن َبْه َدَلَة‬، ‫ َح َّدَثَنا ُسْفَياُن‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬،‫ َح َّدَثَنا َعْبُد الَّر ْح َمِن ْبُن َم ْه ِد ٍّي‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬، ‫َح َّدَثَنا ُمَحَّم ُد ْبُن َبَّشاٍر‬
‫‏‬.‫ َو َأُشُّك ِفي اْلَعْبِد َو اَألَم ِة‏‬:‫ َقاَل‏‏‬،‫َر ُسوُل ِهللا صلى هللا عليه وسلم ِديَناًر ا َو ال ِدْر َهًم ا َو ال َشاًة َو ال َبِع يًر ا‬
