Abstract
The StoreOnce Catalyst Plug-in for Oracle RMAN allows database administrators to back up their
Oracle databases directly to StoreOnce Catalyst backup targets on StoreOnce appliances. The
RMAN Plug-in version 3.5.0 adds new features.

Product models
This release applies to any server hosting an Oracle database and running on an operating
system listed in Operating Systems Supported.
Microsoft Windows Serv 2008 R2 (x64), 2012 (x64), 2012 R2 (x64), 2016 (x64), 2019 (x6
er 4), 2022 (x64)
AIX: On AIX media servers where IPv6 is not configured, you must configure the
/etc/netsvc.conf
file with
hosts=local4,bind4
. If not configured this way, Oracle RMAN backup and recovery operations will fail due to
latencies in resolving storage server addresses on AIX.
AIX: If you want both IPV6 and IPV4 addresses to resolve, configure the
/etc/netsvc.conf
file with
hosts=local,bind
.
NOTE:
Downgrade of the StoreOnce plug-in software is not supported. Ensure that the plug-in version is
newer than the currently installed version.
The install, uninstall, and upgrade functionalities can be performed by using one of the following
modes:
1. Graphical user interface (GUI) mode: In this mode, the user can define parameter values
through the GUI interface during the installation process.
2. Console mode: In this mode, the user can define parameter values through the command line
during the installation process.
3. Silent mode: There is no user interaction in this mode and the installation is completed with
default parameter values.
GUI mode
In the GUI mode, the user can define parameter values through the GUI interface during the
installation process.
Installing the RMAN plug-in
To install the RMAN plug-in using the GUI mode,
1. Run the following command to initiate the installation and open the installation wizard.
Command example: RMAN-Win-<Plug-in Version>-<build no>.exe -i GUI
Alternatively, double click the RMAN-Win-<Plug-in Version>-<build no>.exe file.NOTE:
For Linux/HPUX/Solaris/AIX: Execute ./RMAN-<OS>-<Plug-in Version>-<build no>.bin -i GUI
2. Click Next in the introduction screen to continue.

3. Read and accept the HPE End user License Agreement by selecting the I accept the terms of
the License Agreement check box. Click Next.
4. Click Start to start preinstallation checks.
5. After the preinstallation checks are complete, click Next to continue with the installation.
6. Specify the location to install the plug-in and click OK. Click Choose… to specify an alternative
location for the plug-in.
7. In the Backup and Copy Configuration screen, update the primary backup and copy store
locations. Click Next.
8. Select the Enable network compression and network checksums check box if required and
then click Next. This check box is cleared by default.
9. In the Pre-Installation Summary screen, verify the details and then click Install. The
installation process begins.
10. When the installation is complete, click Done.

Console mode
In the console mode, the user can define parameter values through the command line during the
installation process.
Installing the RMAN plug-in
To install the RMAN plug-in using the console mode,
1. Run the following command in the command line.
Command example:
For Windows: RMAN-Win-<Plug-in Version>-<build no>.exe -i console
For Linux/HPUX/Solaris/AIX: ./RMAN-<OS>-<Plug-in Version>-<build no>.bin -i console
2. Press Enter to continue. A new console window opens.
3. In the License Agreement screen, press Enter to go to the next page of the agreement. After
reviewing the complete agreement, press Y to accept the terms and conditions of the
agreement.
4. Press Enter to run the preflight checks before the installation.IMPORTANT:
Set Oracle SID before running the preflight checks.
5. After the preflight checks are complete, press Enter to initiate the installation in the default
install folder. Optionally, an alternative folder location can be provided through the command
line.
6. Optionally, press Y and then press Enter to configure StoreOnce Catalyst primary backup and
copy store. Select the desired StoreOnce Catalyst store address from the selection displayed
in the Main configuration menu.
Press N and then press Enter to skip the configuration.
7. Press Y to confirm StoreOnce Catalyst Backups over WAN.
8. Type Save and then press Enter to save all the configurations and exit.
9. Review the preinstallation summary and press Enter to initiate the installation.
10. When the installation is complete, press Enter to exit the installer.

To view the details of the install, upgrade and uninstall, refer to the installation logs at
<installationPath>\HPE\StoreOnce\isvsupport\oracle\installation\logs
Upgrading the RMAN plug-in
To upgrade the RMAN plug-in using the console mode,
1. Navigate to the installation folder and run the following command:
Command example:
For Windows: RMAN-Win-<Plug-in Version>-<build no>.exe -i console
For Linux/HPUX/Solaris/AIX: ./RMAN-<OS>-<Plug-in Version>-<build no>.bin -i console
2. Press Enter to continue. A new console window opens.
3. In the License Agreement screen, press Enter to go to the next page of the agreement. After
reviewing the complete agreement, press Y to accept the terms and conditions of the
agreement.
4. Press Enter to run the preflight checks before the installation.IMPORTANT:
Set Oracle SID before running the preflight checks.

5. After the preflight checks are complete, the upgrade is detected. Press Y and then press
Enter to initiate the upgrade.
6. Optionally, press Y to install the plug-in at a new location. Press Enter.NOTE:
This screen is displayed only if the older version of the plug-in is not installed in the
/u01/app/oracle/hpe folder.
7. Review the preinstallation summary and press Enter to initiate the upgrade.
8. When the installation is complete, press Enter to exit the installer.
Silent mode
There is no user interaction in this mode and the installation is completed with default parameter
values.
Installing the RMAN plug-in
To install the plug-in in silent mode, run the following command in the command line to. The
installer will execute the operation in the background and exit when installation is complete. The
default install location and configuration is used to complete the installation.
Command example:
For Windows: RMAN-Win-<Plug-in Version>-<build no>.exe -i silent
For Linux/HPUX/Solaris/AIX: ./RMAN-<OS>-<Plug-in Version>-<build no>.bin -i silent
NOTE:
The keyword 'silent' is case sensitive. Using capitalized words like 'Silent' may display pop up
windows interrupting any automated installs.
NOTE:
To view the details of the install, upgrade and uninstall, refer to the installation logs at
<installationPath>\HPE\StoreOnce\isvsupport\oracle\installation\logs
Uninstalling the RMAN plug-in
To uninstall the plug-in in silent mode, run the following command in the command line to. The
installer will execute the operation in the background and exit when the uninstall is complete.
Command example:
For Windows: RMANPluginUninstall.exe -i silent
For other OS: ./RMANPluginUninstall.bin -i silent
NOTE:
In the silent mode uninstallation of the plug-in, the configuration and log files are retained by
default.
