1.0. Introduction:
There is a growing need of connecting various branches of an Enterprise, which might be
located across the globe. Lease line & Internet bandwidth has become a must for
networking multi site business. Today’s business owner wants to focus more on its core
competencies rather than trying to implement such things of their own. Such a
networking solution often requires not just bandwidth, but hardware components, security

other services in its service portfolio. Managed services are end-to-end services that
include all of the following criteria:

 Service-level agreements (SLAs)

2.2. BSNL has three types of product offers:


 EasyCom - Broadband Networking. (Broadband with Router & ADSL modem)
 BizCom - 64 Kbps to 1 Mbps (MPLS or lease internet bandwidth with
CDMA/GSM/ISDN backup)
 EntCom - 2 Mbps and above (MPLS or lease internet bandwidth with
CDMA/GSM/ISDN backup)

To ensure one stop solution for all connectivity needs, better manageability and
accountability, BSNL offers Managed Network Services which includes Enterprise
Broadband, Internet and MPLS VPN connectivity as completely managed offering. With

2.4.1. Managed Network services Domestic perspectives:


 Mainly provided by all the operators including the small players. In fact, Tulip is
the largest in this segment with a market share of 28% followed by Reliance
 Both wire line as well as wireless connectivity is used for the last mile
 Generally three to four classes of services are offered by the operators
 The MPLS VPN PoPs are being established by all the NLD players which is the
key to garner larger market share
 The pricing of the MPLS VPN is such that if more than 6 to 8 ports are taken by
the customers, the pricing becomes lucrative in comparison to the DLC
 There is further intense competition in this segment and hence prices are heading
downwards
 Each operator has its own network (Autonomous System) and so far NNI is not
very prevalent in the domestic segment

2.4.2. Managed Network services Global perspectives:


 There are many players like Orange, PCCW, BT, NTT who have already
established Global MPLS VPN networks with PoPs in major countries
 Indian ILDOs are also establishing PoPs in other countries and expanding their
business. Further, they are integrating this business with the Submarine Cables
and IP bandwidth
 Major international operators have standing tie-ups with network providers such
as Cisco and Juniper etc for turnkey solutions
 Establishing of NNI with the global players is the key to expanding in this market
and capture the corporate customers
 The pricing of MPLS VPN ports includes the domestic part as well as the
international bandwidth component
 Manageability of the networks is a basic requirement in such solutions
 End to End solution is offered to NMS and single window concept

3.0. BSNL Managed SaaS: Software as a Service (SaaS) is a model of software


deployment wherein an application is licensed to the customer for use as a service on
