Product Description Sika Bitumen -60 is a brown-black bitumen liquid emulsion with excellent adhesion,
which dries to a tough, seamless, Damp-proofing and protective coating for concrete
structures and steel elements.
Suitable for tropical and hot climatic conditions.

Uses Sika Bitumen-60 is used for:
 Tanking and Damp-proofing of substructures to provide an impervious
membrane in wet areas.
 Damp proof membrane for roofs
 Floor slabs
 Basements, Retaining walls
 Landscape decks
 Curing membrane

Application Details
Substrate preparation All surfaces must be sound, even, free from dust, loose particles and any
contamination.

Sika Bitumen-60 may be applied to damp but not waterlogged surfaces.
®
Hot and very dry, porous concrete surfaces must be primed by diluting Sika
Bitumen-60 with clean water at 1:1 ratio (by weight).
Application The drums must be stirred well before use.
Where a single drum is used for prolonged periods, occasional stirring during
application is recommended.
If a primer coat is applied, allow it to dry completely before applying subsequent
coats.

Apply Sika Bitumen-60 evenly and in one direction using a stiff brush.
A two-coat application is recommended to avoid possible gaps in the film.
Each coat must be allowed to dry before applying the next one.
In wet areas, where a key to subsequent layers (e.g. screed, tile bedding, etc.) is
required, blind the fresh top layer with clean sharp sand.

Do not apply Sika Bitumen-60 to outside areas in wet weather or when rain is
expected.
Cleaning Clean all equipment and tools with water immediately after use.

Sika certifies based on the present state of knowledge, that the product

Sika® Bitumious-60

Has been tested and evaluated for the VOC content. The VOC content is less than 30 g /l
(less water).
However with LEED certification there is no requirement for products applied to the
exterior of a building to have restrictions on VOC content because it does not affect indoor
air quality.

Sika® Bitumious-60 can contribute in MR 4 – Recycled Content : 20% (post-consumer + ½)


with 1 Point in addition to MR Credit 4.1 Regional Materials: 20% Extracted, Processed
&Manufactured Regionally it can contribute with 1 Point in addition to MR Credit 5.1
