Chapter 1

The document introduces the background and framework of a study investigating the effects of internet connectivity on taking a computer programming 2 course among second year computer studies students. Specifically, the study aims to determine students' internet service providers, devices, how internet strength, location, and network congestion affect the coding process, and the relationship between internet connectivity and performance in the course. The scope is limited to second year students at a particular college. The findings could benefit students by increasing understanding, instructors by informing decisions, and future researchers. Key terms are also defined.

Chapter 1

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

Framework of the Study

The provided Input, Process and Output (IPO) diagram depicts the flow of information and

activities in this study. It starts with inputs contain the internet service provider and device of the

respondents also the internet strength, location and network congestion of internet connectivity

in process coding, followed by the process of collecting using survey questionnaire and

analyzing data through the use of person correlation coefficient, frequency and percent

distribution and weighted mean. Lastly, its result in valuable outputs concerning the

improvement of internet connectivity in taking computer programming 2.

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to determine the effects of internet connectivity on taking computer

programming 2 among the 2nd year students of the computer studies department (CSD) at

Kolehiyo Ng Subic (KNS).

Specifically, it seeks to find answer to the following questions:

1. What is the profile of respondents of describe in terms of:

1.1. Internet Service Provider (ISP); and

1.2. Device?

2. How may the internet connectivity affect the process of coding in terms of:

2.1. Internet strength;

2.2. Location; and

2.3. Network congestion?

3. What is the direct influence of internet connectivity in taking computer programming 2?

4. Is there significant relationship in 2nd year CSD students and internet connectivity in taking

computer programming 2?

Hypothesis

Scope and Delimitation

This research only covers the 2nd year students enrolled in Computer Studies Department at

Kolehiyo ng Subic. This study aims to know the effects of internet connectivity in taking

computer programming 2. Questionnaire were used to gather. Variation on their perception is

group according to their personal related variables such as ISP and Device.
Significance of the Study

The findings of this study will benefit the following

STUDENT. This study will provide knowledge and understanding to the students on how the

internet connectivity effect in taking computer programming 2.

INSTRUCTOR. This study also beneficial to the instructors to give knowledge on how to make

decision in dealing programming platforms. And to give sight that some students are having

internet connectivity will give them considerations.

FUTURE RESEARCHERS. This research would potentially serve as a foundational

framework and references about the effect of internet connectivity in taking computer

programming 2.

Definition of Terms

To facilitate the understanding of this study different terms are define herein:

Internet Service Provider. It refers to a company that provides access to the internet.

Device. A thing made for particular purpose, an invention or contrivance, especially a

mechanical or electrical one.

Internet Strength. It basically a measure of the power received by your application

Location. It refer to position or point that occupies some of the Earth’s surface.

Network Congestion. It refers to reduction in quality of services that causes packet loss,

queueing delay or the blocking of new connections.

Internet Connectivity. It refers a connection provided by ISP that enables individual hardware

components either individually or registered within Local Area Network to exchange data over

the public internet

Computer Programming. It process of writing code to facilitate specific actions in a computer,

application or software program and instructs them on how to perform.

For the local context, in the Philippines, several studies showed some contrasting sentiments

with regards to internet connectivity and the use of gadgets or devices for online learning. In a

study by Fabito et al., (2020) the group revealed that one of the three barriers and challenges that

students encountered in online learning was a good internet connection. Another related concept
