Inspect Webbing slings to confirm it has multiple plies, uniformly woven and
the edges such that when one of the yards breaks during weaving the ends
cannot be pulled from the webbing causing it to unpick.
Also inspect the method of weaving shall be such that the width of the
finished sling changes by no more that -10% for widths less than or equal to
100 mm, and -12% for widths over 100 mm.
The effective working length (EWL) of a flat woven webbing sling shall not differ

sling from service.
Chemical damage is difficult to detect until advanced deterioration has
occurred. In advanced state, surface powdering or loss of sleeve coloring
occurs.
Heat damage can be generated by friction. This will cause a smooth shiny area on
the outer surface and causes internal fiber damage.
Knotted slings
Any fiber brittleness or extruding fine dust due to extended UV exposure
