II. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this module, you will be able to:

a) Describe the interactions between S&T and society throughout history;


b) Discuss how the ideas postulated by Copernicus, Darwin and Freud contributed to the spark
of scientific revolution;
c) Analyze how scientific revolution is done in various parts of the world like Latin America,
East Asia, Middle East and Africa.

IV. LESSON:
This module will give light to the development of science and scientific ideas in the heart of the
society. It is the goal of this module to articulate ways by which society is transformed by science and
technology.
The content of the lesson will be found on the sources.
V. ACTIVITY:

I. Answer the following questions


1. What is the contribution of Copernicus in the philosophy of science?
2. Do you think thought experiment is still useful in science in the present time? Explain.
3. How can Darwin’s evolutionary theory influence the following fields in the modern times:
a. Economy
b. Agriculture
c. Political Science
d. Religion
4. By looking for other sources and literatures, what are the other controversies or questions on
Freud’s ideas?
5. How did society shape science and how did science shape society?
6. How do political and cultural landscapes of the society affect the development of scientific
culture, science activities, and science literacy?
7. Considering the current state of our society, do you think science literacy among people has
contributed to the growth of our economy?
