The Page to Stage: The Ultimate Story Retelling Showdown is a captivating contest that
encourages students to immerse themselves in the world of literature. This unique competition not only
challenges contestants to explore the depths of their storytelling abilities but also fosters a deeper connection
to the written word. Through the art of story retelling, we aim to ignite a passion for reading, enhance
language skills and celebrate the power of storytelling.
Eligible students are invited to participate and immerse themselves in the world of books and
storytelling on November 17, 2023, for an event that promises to be a journey from the page to the stage,
celebrating the art of storytelling like never before.
Eligibility: This competition is open exclusively to bona fide students of Misamis Occidental National High
School.
Mechanics/Guidelines:
1. Story Selection:
A specific story will be assigned to each contestant for retelling.
2. Registration:
Registration begins on November 6, 2023, through Nikki Honeybee A. Godinez.
3. Adherence to the Original Story:
Contestants should retain the core elements of the original story, including plot, characters,
setting, and major events.
Entries should not be verbatim repetitions of the original story.
4. Language, Costume, and Tone:
Participants must use the English language.
Entries should be free from inappropriate and vulgar language and costumes.
Judging Criteria:
Organization (20%): The retelling is well-structured and logically organized, with a clear beginning,
middle and end. Transitions between events are smooth and coherent.
Language Use (20%): The contestant effectively uses a variety of appropriate vocabulary and
sentence structures to retell the story, enhancing the listeners’ understanding.
Engagement (60%): The contestant actively engages the listeners by using expressive and engaging
language, conveying their personal connection to the story.
Prizes and Recognition: Winners will receive a range of exciting rewards, including cash prizes,
certificates, reading-related merchandise and public recognition during the flag-raising ceremony. The
winners will be recognized as follows:
First Place (Story Retelling Champion)
Second Place
Third Place
Judging Panel: A diverse panel of judges with expertise in literature and related fields will assess the
contestants according to the provided criteria, ensuring a fair and knowledgeable evaluation.
