accuracy, as measured by a vocabulary test.

demonstrated through lectures, class discussions, and questions. Kinesthetic learning involves hands-on

Explain to students: You will write the definition, underline the definition, write the part of speech, and
then write the definition. Then, skip a line on your paper before you write the next definition. Explain to
students: Let’s do anticipation together. Ask students: What is the the first step? *Call on students to

students time for questions, if needed.
Differentiation: (You need to address in your differentiation of the lesson how you will meet the
needs of the 3 Tiers. Be specific!)

Tier 1 Learners: For Tier 1 learners, the lesson is designed to benefit visual, auditory, and kinesthetic
learners. For visual learners, students will be shown examples on the SmartBoard. Auditory learners will
be guided with questions, explanations, and discussions. Kinesthetic learners will have hands-on
activities, such as writing and typing.
Tier 2 Learners: For Tier 2 learners, students can be placed into smaller groups (2 to 5) to receive the
same instruction used in Tier 1. Students are to receive the same instructional materials and methods that
are also to be used for Tier 1 instruction, with more teacher-student interaction that provides specific
corrective feedback. Students can also repeat directions.
Tier 3 Learners: For Tier 3 learners, this could include individual interventions that are evidence-based
strategies that meet the needs of each student. A smaller group size (2 to 3) should also be considered.

Evaluation/Assessment:

Formative: Class discussions about vocabulary words will be implemented. For example, students will be
asked if there are words that they do not understand. Students will also be assessed by their participation
in class, more specifically, how they respond to the thumbs up/thumbs down strategy when prompted.

Summative: Students will take a vocabulary test next Friday.

Wrap-Up(Lesson Closure) /Concluding Activity:

Explain to students: Let’s review these vocabulary words again. *Read each word with the class again.
Ask students: Are there any words that you want to review? *Call on students to answer.
