1. Find the angle between force F = (3i + 4j - 5k) and displacement d = (5i + 4j + 3k). Also find the
projection of F on d.
2. The acceleration due to gravity at moon's surface is 1.67 m/s2. If the radius of moon is 1.74 x 106m,
calculate its mass. Take G = 6.67 x 10-11 Nm2kg-2
3. A particle of mass 0.8 kg is executing SHM with an amplitude of 1.0m and periodic-time (11/7) s.
Calculate the velocity and kinetic energy of the particle when its displacement is 0.6 m.
OR
Write down the difference between Isothermal and Adiabatic process.
4. The blood pressure in human is greater at the feet than at the brain. Why?
6. Why latent heat of vaporisation is greater than latent heat of fusion of a substance?
OR
Define coefficient of thermal conductivity. Explain the significance of minus sign in the rate of heat
flow.
7. When a gas undergoes a change adiabatically from an equilibrium state A to another equilibrium
state B, 22. 3J of work is done on the gas. Now, if the gas is taken from state A to B through a process
in which 9.35 calorie of heat is absorbed by the gas, how much work is done by the gas?
1. A perfect gas of volume 2x10-3 m3 at 105 Nm-2 pressure is adiabatically compressed to half its
original value. Calculate the new pressure and work done on it. Given - ɣ = 1.4
4. What is Carnot's Ideal Refrigerator? Derive an expression for the work that must be supplied to
run the refrigerator.
5. The SHM of a body are represented by y = 50cos (2π rad s-1 t + π/4) in S.I units.
Compute: a) displacement b) speed c) acceleration of the body at t = 1.5 s
6. A particle executes SHM of amplitude 25cm and time period 3 secs. What is the minimum time
required for the particle to move between two points 12.5cm on either side of the mean position?

What is meant by resonance? Give one example of each type of resonance.
7. Write down the differences between Progressive Waves and Stationary Waves.
8. A transverse harmonic wave is travelling on a string with a speed of 25m/s. A particle on the string
has maximum velocity and maximum acceleration of 4m/s and 100m/s2 respectively. Write its
waveform?
9. Derive a relationship between particle velocity and wave velocity.
OR
Prove Kepler’s 3rd law of planetary motion.
10. State Newton's law of Cooling. Sketch a graph and write down the formula for the relation of
temperature and time.
1. Show how does acceleration due to gravity is affected by altitude and hence, at what height above
the earth's surface the acceleration due to gravity will be 1/9th of its value at the earth's surface?

Obtain an expression for the pressure exerted by a liquid column. Hence, calculate the pressure of
seawater at depth a of 200m, when the average density of sea water is 1.032x103 kgm-3. (3+2)
2. At two places in a venturi meter the cross-sectional area of the tube is A1 and A2 and the pressure
difference is equal to height h of the liquid column. Deduce a formula for the volume of the liquid
flowing per second through the tube. Hence calculate the rate of flow of the liquid in a tube which
has different cross-sectional areas at points A and B. The diameter of A is 4 cm and that of B is 2 cm,
two manometer limbs are attached at A and B. When a liquid of density 0.8cm3 flows through the
tube. Pressure difference between the limbs of the manometer is 8 cm (g = 980cm/s2). (3+2)

A slab has been formed from two plates kept in contact, each of same thickness and cross-sections
and conductivities K1 and K2. Show that the resultant thermal conductivity of this slab is given by-

3. The adjacent figure shows the changes thermodynamic going from an initial state A to the state B
and to C and returning to the state A. If UA = 0, UB = 30J and the heat given to the system in the
process B C = 50J then determine -
4. What do you understand by SHM? Obtain an expression for the time period of Simple pendulum.
What is the length of a simple pendulum whose time period of oscillation for small amplitudes
