A Critique for the movie “The Gifted”

“The Gifted” is a rom-com and drama movie, it shows a negative self-image of women.
It’s another story of duckling with two characters instead of one. Zoey Tuazon a plus-sized, Aica
Tababayong has insecurities about her face. In this movie, Zoey is the antagonist because of her
arrogance and she betrayed Aica. On the other hand, Aica is the opposite of Zoe.

Its amaze how the movie presented the idea about the friendship. Fat and ugly teens meet
and bloom their friendship. It shows that we should not be picky on choosing a friend. It entails
about the reality during of our childhood days where the students are the bullies. There is a
scene, when Aica and Zoey become friends, they did silly things to the bullies including the nun
and their classmates. However, there is a time when friendship ends. It makes me sad when Zoey
had to sacrifice their friendship just to satisfy her parents.

It quite amusing how this movie tackles a dilemma. The characters, Zoey’s parent seem
to place a lot of importance on her achievements at school, which leads to Zoey betraying Aica.
In my opinion the character is quietly good. Zoey Tuazon (Anne Curtis) and Aica Tabayoyong
(Christine Reyes), her acting is good, and I love how she act. In the movie, she has a good heart,
despite of being not a financial stable. She really works hard for her future and give her family a
good life.

“The Gifted” in this movie, the characters form a connection with each other. It
highlights the struggle and challenges faced by the individual. It also showed moral lesson about
love, friendship, self-worth, confidence, and respect. It teaches the viewer that envy is deadly
and should not be tolerated.

Reaction Paper of “The Gifted”

This is the 3rd time I watch "The Gifted" and it is always amaze me. This move is about
childhood best friend who are born smart, but they became rival because of Zoey's parents. She
tried to sabotage Aica by ordering Marc to distract Aica in exchange of her doing the
assignments and projects to the latter. It also focuses the idea of friendship, academic standing,
and love.

The way the movie shows the concept of friendship is truly amazing. How a fat and ugly
girl blooms their friendship. it is shown that Aica and Zoey became friends at the cafeteria, and
they do silly things and get revenge to the people who bullied them.

This movie is funny because it has these kinds of issues about the pressure parents put on
their children when it comes to academic success. It shows how Zoey's parents are so focused on
her academic standing that they push her to betray her friend Aica. Zoey feels like she has to
make her parents happy, even if it leads to break her friendship with Aica. This highlights the
fact that parents should remember that their children's happiness and well-being should be the
most important thing. Instead of putting so much pressure on children to always be the best at
everything, parents should focus on encouraging their children to find their passions.

The movie talked about real, fake, and genuine love between parents. When teenagers fall
in love get carried away with their feelings, they forget who they are. Aica became foolishly in
love with Marc. She forgot who she was; she even forgot to be attentive in class. She gave Marc
all her attention. She loves Marc, but Marc doesn't love her. He even threw away the gift that
Aica gave him. But nothing beats parents genuine love. Aica's parents are still proud of her and
love her, even though she didn't graduate as the valedictorian. They accept her even though Aica
has some faults too. The movie made us realize that we should distinguish between fake and real
love, but still, nothing can beat the unconditional love that our parents give to us.

The Gifted movie is focuses on the idea about friendship, academic standing and love. the
message is that true friendship comes from the heart, not the surface. Academic standing should
not be the basis of our parents’ satisfaction. There are types of love, but we should give
importance to our parents love because it the only love that is genuine and real. These are the
important lessons that should be always in our minds, and we should apply it in real life.
