LEARNING COMPETENCIES
The learners will be able to:

• define organizing and management,


• determine the steps in organizing community fitness activities,
• gain an insight on the prospective careers and job opportunities in the sports and
fitness.

INTRODUCTION
Participating in community- based fitness program is one thing organizing and managing
them, however, is another. It entails much thought, through research, and precise planning in order
for the fitness program or physical activity to be implemented successfully. It requires the
cooperation of a large number of organizations from the private and public sectors.

DISCUSSION
Organization and management go hand in hand. Organization refers to the act or process
of planning and arranging the different parts of an event or activity. Management is the act or skill
of controlling and making decisions and supervising events or activities.

Steps in Organizing Community Activities


The following steps in organizing community activities are:
1. Create a team
2. Set goals
3. Prepare
4. Plan
5. Communicate
a. Low tech outreach
• Post flyers in public places
• Use community bulletin boards
• Ask area business to spread the word
• Make announcement in schools, churches, or civic groups
b. Traditional Media
• Invite the news media to report about your upcoming event
• Make a follow -up phone call to the news media
• Place free ads in the community affairs section of your local papers

c. Digital and Social Media


• Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

Career Opportunities
Career defines as a lifelong pursuit that requires enormous personal investment and rigorous
training and self -growth. Profession on the other hand, is a distinctive type of work that requires
mastery of complex knowledge and skills. It is centered on supplying services to s specific clientele
and is guided by formal and informal ethical codes of conduct to preserve the health and well-being
of clients.
