Lab Report 01 E2

This lab report summarizes three tasks performed in PSpice: 1) A bias point analysis was conducted to observe the voltage and current in a circuit with a 10V DC source and 50 ohm resistor. 2) A DC sweep analysis was performed to observe the relationship between voltage and current in the circuit according to Ohm's Law. 3) An AC sweep analysis was carried out by replacing the 10V source with a 1V AC source and adding a 50nF capacitor. This allowed observing the output response and matching the calculated transfer function.

LAB REPORT 01

Lab # 1PSpice: Introduction, DC Operating Point,DC

Sweep and Transfer Function Analysis

Components and Instruments

a. Components: No component required.
b. Instruments: Computer with OrCADPSpice installed.

Task 01: Bias Point Analysis

Purpose of this analysis is to observe the voltage and current at steady state

i. Connect the circuit as shown below and set the values as explained above.
ii. Set the DC voltage source equal to 10V and resistor is set equal to 50 ohms. (The
symbol for prefixes such as kilo and milli and mega are case insensitive can be
confusing e.g. the symbol for kilo is K or k , for milli it is M or m and for mega it is
MEG or meg).
iii. Go to the “Simulation setting” and choose “Bias Point” in “Analysis Type”.
iv. Go to the PSpice tab and select Run. The simulation window will appear.
v. When the simulation has completed, close the simulation window and the schematic
will reappear.
vi. Activate V, I, and W tool buttons to obtain the values of the voltage, the current, and
the power dissipated in circuit components.
Task 02: DC Sweep
The purpose of this analysis is to sweep input voltage and observe the output current. Here, we are
going to observe the relationship between the voltage and current in Ohms’ law for the above circuit.

i. Open a “New Simulation Profile” before starting the simulation.

ii. Go to the “Simulation setting” and choose “DC Sweep” in “Analysis Type”.
iii. Go to the PSpice tab and select Run. The simulation window will appear.
iv. In simulation setting choose “DC Sweep” in the Analysis Type.
v. In the column of “Sweep variable”, choose the sweeping source and type in its name as
V1 here.
vi. In column of “sweep type”, “Linear“means the input voltage is swept in the form of 1, 3,
5….; while “Logarithmic” means the input voltage is swept in the form of 1, 10, 100.
vii. Go to the PSpice tab and select Run. The simulation window will appear (Observe that X
axis is the voltage and Y axis is the current).
Task 03: AC Sweep Analysis
Purpose of this analysis is to sweep input frequency and observe the output response.

i. Replace the 10 Vdv source with 1 Vac and place 50nF capacitor in series with 50
ohms resistor.
ii. Go to the “Simulation setting” and choose “AC Sweep” in “Analysis Type”.
iii. Select the logarithmic scale in AC sweep type and select the start frequency and end
frequency range (say 10MHz as start and 100 MHz as end).
V o (s) 1
iv. Calculate the transfer function for the circuit by using the relation =
V i (S ) 1+ sCR
v. Go to the PSpice tab and select Run.
Observe the pole frequency and matched it to the transfer function calculated above
CRITICAL ANALYSIS

In this lab we learn the baising point analysis in which we learn the varation of dc voltage .

The graph show us the varation of the baising by using the resistor.

Next task of dc analysis give us the linaer graph of the circuit which tell us the behavior of the circuit at
dc when current pass through the capacitor it block the current.

While in the ac analysis the sin wave is produce by which we get the input and out value of the circuit.
