Introduction
Zener Diode
A Zener diode is a type of semiconductor device that's designed to conduct electricity in reverse
direction when a specific voltage, called the "Zener voltage," is reached. When the voltage across the
Zener diode exceeds this specific value, it allows current to flow through it, effectively regulating or
limiting the voltage. This makes Zener diodes useful for voltage regulation and protection in electronic
circuits.

QUESTION:
ANSWER:
A Zener diode can be used as a voltage regulator. A Zener diode operates in the reverse breakdown region,
and when it is reverse-biased beyond its breakdown voltage, it exhibits a relatively constant voltage drop
across its terminals. A Zener diode acts as a voltage regulator by maintaining a constant output voltage
across its terminals when it is reverse-biased and operating in the breakdown region. This makes it useful
for providing a stable voltage source in various electronic circuits.
Conclusion
In our lab we have explored a new type of diode which is heavily doped and operates in reverse
biased condition called Zener diode. We learned the VI characteristics of this diode, the graph of this
diode between voltage and current and also made the forward and reverse circuits on porteus and
hardware as well.
