Excel Hands-On Exam

I. Practical Test
Navigate and perform common tasks directly in Excel and submit the
completed spreadsheet.

DIRECTIONS:

1. This exam consists of a series of tasks to be completed using Microsoft


Excel.
2. You are required to perform the tasks directly in Excel and submit the
completed spreadsheet.
3. Save your work as instructed in each task.
4. Make sure to follow the given instructions carefully.
5. You have 60 minutes to complete the exam.

Task 1: Basic Operations


1. Open a new Excel workbook.
2. Enter your name and today's date in cells A1 and A2, respectively.
3. Create a simple arithmetic operation in cell B1 that adds 25 and 37.
4. Save the worksheet as “Task 1”

Task 2: Formatting
1. On the same workbook, add a new worksheet.
2. Format the text in cells A1 and A2 as bold and centered.
3. Format the number in cell B1 as currency with two decimal places.
4. Change the font color of the text in cells A1 and A2 to blue.
5. Save the worksheet as “Task 2”

Task 3: Data Entry


1. Create a new worksheet within the same workbook.
2. Open the file on the file drive sent by your teacher.
3. Copy the data on that file on your sheet.
4. Create a formula to work out the wealth per year for each person. To do
this you must divide wealth by age and then copy the formula down:
Division: =N1/N2<enter>
Task 4: Formulas
1. Create a formula to work out the wealth per year for each person
2. Use functions to work out the total and average wealth per year at the
bottom of the list:

Task 5: Chart Creation


1. On the same worksheet, insert a column chart to visualize the richest
people down to the least.
2. Save the worksheet as “Task3,4,5)

Task 6: Final Steps


1. Review your workbook to ensure all tasks are completed correctly.
2. Save the workbook with this file name
"7(section)_Exam_YourLastname.xlsx".
3. Save the excel file to the File Drive designated by your teacher.
