Revival of Classical Traditions
• The revival of classical traditions refers to the
renewed interest and influence of ancient
Greek and Roman art, philosophy, and culture
that occurred during different periods in
history.
1. Renaissance (14th–17th centuries): The
Renaissance in Europe saw a significant revival of
classical ideas, marked by a renewed interest in
humanism, individualism, and a revival of
classical art and architecture. Artists like
Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo drew
inspiration from classical sculptures and
manuscripts.

2. Neoclassicism (18th–19th centuries): In the
18th century, Neoclassicism emerged as an
artistic and intellectual movement that
looked back to the classical ideals of ancient
Greece and Rome. This influenced
architecture, sculpture, painting, and
literature, with a focus on symmetry,
simplicity, and rationality.

3. Classical Revival in the 19th and 20th centuries:
Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, there
were various revivals of classical styles in
architecture. The Beaux-Arts movement and the
classical elements incorporated into buildings
during the Enlightenment era are examples of
this revival.
