1.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of this element of the EHS Management System is to explain the
importance of EHS objectives and to explain how they are compiled. Once objectives
are set, planning actions be compiled and implemented to achieve them.

The scope of this element will deal with the formulation of EHS objectives.

EHS objectives will be established to comply with the organization’s EHS policy. Taking
into account the organization’s significant EHS aspects/risks and associated
compliance obligations and considering its risks and opportunities. The objectives shall
be established after consideration of findings from audits and the identified significant
environmental aspects and impacts and the safety and health hazards and risks,
compliance obligations and risks and opportunities. Thereafter EHS objectives will be
established annually. When the objectives are set, the organization shall consider
establishing measurable EHS performance indicators, for monitoring its progress in
achieving the EHS objectives identified and continual improvement. EHS Planning
Actions shall be established to comply with objectives and help improve its EHS
performance.
The objectives shall be measurable, where practicable, and consistent with the EHS
policy, including the commitment to prevention of pollution and to continual
improvement.
If an objective is set, the aspect that it relates to shall be updated in the Aspects / Risk
Database to reflect the objective number. This shall be entered on the “Control System
Details’ field on the aspects/risk database and documented information of the EHS
objectives and planning actions will be maintained.

The progress towards achieving objectives shall be evaluated quarterly by the EHS
Manager.
All activities in the organization will be reviewed during the aspect / hazard
identification phase as per the requirements of xxxxxx. After consideration of the
significant EHS aspects / risks and associated compliance obligations and the risks
and opportunities, an activity will be deemed key activities if any of the following
conditions are applicable:
Environmental, Health and Safety Actions may be developed for any of the above-
identified activities at the discretion of the management team.
EHS Planning Actions shall be developed after consideration of the following principles:
EHS Planning Actions shall include the means and time scales (if applicable) to
manage the activity to ensure continual improvement in EHS performance. Planning
Actions shall include the designation of responsibility and authority for achieving
objectives at relevant functions and levels of the organization. The progress of EHS
Planning Actions shall be discussed monthly in the EHS top 60 meeting. When
changes in processes, activities, services and products within the scope of the HSE
management system occur and objectives cannot be met, the EHS objectives and
associated planning actions should be revised, the EHS Manager shall obtain
permission from the Plant Manager to extend the date.
