 There are 33 questions in all. All questions are compulsory.
 This question paper has five sections: Section A, Section B, Section C, Section D and
Section E.
 All the sections are compulsory.
 Section A contains sixteen questions(twelve MCQ and four Assertion Reasoning based)
of 1 mark each, Section B contains five questions of two marks each, Section C
contains seven questions of three marks each, Section D contains two case study based
questions of four marks each and Section E contains three long answer questions of five
marks each.
 There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in one
question in Section B, one question in Section C and all three questions in Section E.
You have to attempt only one of the choices in such questions.

100 kg f. The top face is displaced through 0.25 cm with respect to the bottom.

29. Friction: Whenever a body moves or tends to move over the surface of another body, 4

a force comes into play which acts parallel to the surface of contact and opposes the

relative motion. This opposing force is called friction. Static friction opposes the

impending relative motion while the kinetic friction opposes the actual relative

motion. Static friction is self adjusting force.

30. Oscillations of a simple pendulum: 4


A simple pendulum is a heavy point mass suspended by a weightless inextensible
and a perfectly flexible string from a rigid support about which it can vibrate freely.
The distance of the point of suspension and the point of oscillation is called length of
the pendulum. When the metallic bob is displaced slightly on either side and
released, it begins to oscillate about the mean position. If the thread makes an angle
θ with the vertical at any instant, then the forces acting on the bob are (i) weight mg
of the bob acting vertically downwards (ii) the tension T is the string.

the bob?

30. Simple Harmonic Motion 4


Simple harmonic motion is the simplest form of oscillation. A particular type of

periodic motion in which a particle moves to and fro repeatedly about a mean position

under the influence of a restoring force is termed as simple harmonic motion (S.H.M).

A body is undergoing simple harmonic motion if it has an acceleration which is


directed towards a fixed point, and proportional to the displacement of the body from

two values?

expression for time period of S.H.M.

b) A guitar string is 90 cm long and has a fundamental frequency of 124 Hz. Where
