Foundation Engineering Problem Set 3

A series of shear strength tests were conducted on soil samples, including direct shear tests, triaxial compression tests, and consolidated drained and undrained tests. The results of these tests were used to calculate key shear strength parameters of the soils including the internal friction angle, cohesion, and plane of failure. Parameters such as total stress, pore water pressure, normal stress, and shear stress at failure were measured and used in calculations according to standard equations to determine the shear strength of the soils tested.
