DeMark Pivot Points

DeMark Pivot Points are a technical analysis indicator that identifies potential turning points in prices based on values from previous periods, such as daily, weekly, quarterly or annual data. The indicator calculates pivot points, support levels, and resistance levels using a formula that considers the high, low, open and close prices. To add the DeMark Pivot Points indicator in a chart, users select it from the Studies menu and complete any necessary parameters. It is possible for support or resistance levels to be above the pivot point in some cases due to a wide price range.

DeMark Pivot Points

Pivot point studies highlight prices considered to be a likely turning point when looking at values from a previous period, whether it be daily, weekly, quarterly or
annual. Each pivot point study has its own characteristics on how these points are calculated. The formula applied for the DeMark Pivot Points is:
If Close < Open, then X = High + (2 * Low) + Close
If Close > Open, then X = (2 * High) + Low + Close
If Close = Open, then X = High + Low + (2 * Close)
Pivot Point (P) = X/4
Support 1 (S1) = X/2 - High
Resistance 1 (R1) = X/2 - Low

To add a DeMark Pivot Point indicator

1. From within a chart, from the Edit menu select Studies.

2. In the Pivot Studies section select DeMark Pivot Points and Add the study.
3. Complete parameters as necessary.
It is possible that in some cases, for example when the closing price is near the high or low and there is a wide range, the S1 or R1 value will be above the
PP.
