1 ConnectMaster Version 6.00

1.1 Complete .NET Framework Integration
The previous version of ConnectMaster V550 was a combination of 2 programming languages:
1. W4GL run-time created by Ingress, and
2. .NET created by Microsoft.

W4GL had limitations and was the base language of V550. V550 users may have found issues with:
 Window Navigation and Control
 Menu bar and context menus
 The need to close windows in the order they were create

All these issues and more have been resolved by creating the entire system using the Microsoft .NET
Framework. The new development language has improved the look and feel of ConnectMaster as
well as made it easier to Navigate.

1.2 The New Connect Master GUI

The main goal of Version 6.00 was to port all existing functionality into the .NET framework. There is
some new functionality in the system however the major difference between the 2 versions is the
interface. This training manual will go through the functions and features of the new ConnectMaster
Version 6.00 interface.

3.1.2 Exercise: Change the selection to understand this function

Feature Area
The feature area of Navigator is split into 2 parts, on the top there is a search bar which will initiate a
global search within Connect Master.

Under the search bar is the tree view of the location system in the Selection Drop Down. As you
progress down the tree of locations you will be able to see Components and Logic that are in each
location as well as the sub-locations within that location.

When you reach the components you will see that the tree is separated out into component
categories. Under each category will be a list of all components in that category. If the object is a
Container / Network Element or Network Interface you will be able to see the tree of sub-
components (Elements) under that component.

Component Types are the configurable models that template specific inventory. This training does
not cover Component Types. However, should you need to know how to find them this is the menu
item, It will open a Component Type filter.

6.3 Network Usage

Network Usage contains all the forms relating to network usage. In ConnectMaster usage is a term
given to the usage of a Physical Path which is a string of Connected Components. When a path has a
usage on it, the components in that path will reflect the utilisation of the points on the each object.

Example: A pair of fibres between 2 STM-1 Cards going from TX to RX will be used by the STM-1
transmission running over those fibres.

Column Results Filter

Once you have a result set in your filter you can use the column filters to filter the results more.
These work very similar to Excel Auto Filters and are activated by clicking on the small filter button in
the top right of the column name.

Auto-Filter Results Filter

The auto filter is another method for filtering results. This filter opens a bar under each column for
free text and drop down boxes for each field. The results will change as you type them.

Results Filter Status Bar

When a results filter is activated you will see a status bar appear down the bottom of the results list.
This status bar shows what is currently being filtered. The check box will allow you to turn the filter
on and off while the X button will clear the results filter altogether.

Context menus in Results

If the field in the results of a filter is referencing another CM object then you can activate that
objects context menu by right clicking on that object.

Bulk Changes
Some fields like status can be changed in bulk. To do this highlight the records and click to edit one
of the records. If you see a drop down you can click on it to see the possible values that can be set.
When you change the value all the values for that field in each record will change.
