Title: Review of Literature on Climate Change in India

Introduction:

Understanding the impacts of climate change in India is critical in the global fight against
environmental degradation. A literature review provides a comprehensive overview of existing
research and findings on this pressing issue. However, delving into the vast array of scholarly works
and synthesizing relevant information poses significant challenges.

Challenges of Writing a Literature Review on Climate Change in India:

1. Vastness of Literature: Climate change is a multifaceted issue with a wide-ranging impact on

various sectors in India. Navigating through numerous studies, reports, and academic papers
to extract relevant information requires extensive time and effort.

On the whole they are moisture-less winds, if not for the occurrence of the monsoons, India would
have been a baked land or a desert. Heat-related illnesses killed more than one hundred people in one
Indian state alone. Even in the face of climate change, India is scientifically and economically
equipped to handle the challenges of global warming whilst opening up new avenues for investors to
take advantage of. Cultural effects of training on self-efficacy and performance. Several perennial
streams have become seasonal owing to deforestation in the catchments. The null model was
specified to test the proportion of variance in behavioral involvement that can be attributed to
differences at the community level and as a baseline to examine if more complex models fit the data
better. The rainfall in India varies in its form, types, amount and seasonal distribution. Results
suggest that individuals’ collective efficacy is significantly and positively associated with behavioral
involvement to ensure drinking water adequacy in their communities. However, notwithstanding
this, fossil fuels have an overwhelmingly large share in India’s primary energy consumption and this
fact needs to change (see Chart 4 ). The need to do so is now particularly pressing, with scientists
recently finding that India’s yields of crops are being cut by almost half due to its air pollution
levels. Carvalho, A., 2007: Ideological cultures and media discourses on scientific knowledge: Re-

put it concisely, Notion Press offers the best way to self publish books with the integration of quality
services and innovation in technology. The second hypothesis was also fully supported: community-
level collective efficacy is significantly and positively associated with community adaptation
responses. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word
or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data. What are the findings, and what can policymakers
make of them. The author relies extensively on data which is hard to understand and hasn't been
cited in many many many places across the book. This analysis underscores the overlapping
vulnerabilities that can impact regions as they face multiple waves of shocks. We additionally
explore several taxes that apply to wholly owned subsidiary companies, and provide an outlook for
what investors can expect to see in India this year. The book powerfully weaves discussions about
broader political-economic transformations alongside detailed accounts of people's everyday
experience of ecological crisis in this marginalized region of South Asia. To begin with, I was
annoyed with the uninteresting quotations used by the author at the beginning of every chapter. The
author is unapologetic in her claims and gives a great analysis on many areas of impact. While
economic resources are important in adaptation planning and implementation, they are not sufficient.
The two categories were assigned using a mean split. BAU conditions refer to a scenario where either
no action is taken or very little is done to reduce emission of greenhouse gases that have resulted in
global warming and consequent climate change. It is very relatable, easy to absorb and aims at
igniting the curiosity of the readers. This makes Notion Press a natural choice for any author who
wants to try out independent book publishing. The most rain falls from October through December,
but frequent showers can occur from May to September. To predict changes in average weather at
local level, it uses weather data from global climate models. Respondents living in independent house
or living in flats were coded as 1 and others as 0.
On average, a one-point increase in community collective efficacy was associated with an increase of
an individual’s self-reported community adaptation responses by 0.20 points ( Table 3 ). Table 3.

Climate Change 2014: Mitigation of Climate Change, O. This book advances in uncovering the
social side of climate change and natural hazards using social science methodologies and qualitative
analysis focused on the diversity of small-scale fishing populations involved, with a particular focus
on women. Twelve variables were used as control variables in this study: respondent’s sex, age,
income levels, educational attainment, caste groups (as identified by the Government of India),
source of drinking water, payment for water, time to collect water, access to sanitation, agricultural
land ownership, house type, and location of the respondent’s household. She also offers a fair
prognosis of the disaster that awaits us if we don’t act. Please include what you were doing when

million at risk by the end of the century. Illustrations by Author (2017) from (Albrecht, et al., 2011).
The book proves to be an informative text to take stock of climate change, especially in India in
recent times. It indicates that urban centres in India have a close relationship with urban population
(as indicated in Table 1) as well as its size, location and extent (as indicated in Table 2). This book
would be beneficial for researchers, policy makers, academicians, environmentalists, and university
students. Mitigation and adaptation are two ways to combat climate change. If you would like to

Shaded areas represent 95% confidence intervals based on 1000 simulations. Unlike many countries
at higher latitudes, which may actually see health benefits as they warm, India is projected to
experience negative effects on average for the overwhelming majority of the population. My friends,

However, as the current incidence rates for many of these ailments are low in small arctic
communities it is difficult to detect, let alone predict, any trends in their future incidence. He has

changes in the surface temperature, atmospheric water vapour, severe climatic events, melting of
glaciers, and a rise in sea level. Carney meant that if the shift towards becoming a low-carbon
economy is too rapid, it could materially damage a country’s financial stability.

method ( Myers 2011 ) was used to impute missing data on all the variables considered in the study
using gender and age as matching variables to impute missing values (see Table 1 ). If you would like

the cohort of mega cities are the largest culprits, with the capital city of India- National Capital
Territory of Delhi being the prime offender. Moreover, in addition to perceived risk tested in this
paper, future research could also include other critical variables such as values (e.g., Schultz and
Zelezny 1999; Steg et al. 2012 ), cultural orientations (e.g., Markus and Kitayama 1991 ), and social
capital ( Aldrich 2010 ) to test the relative importance of collective efficacy and values in enhancing
adaptive capacity. Mridula Ramesh's book is simple to read and explains the many causes,
consequences and recommendations for some of the critical issues ( stubble burning, agricultural
practices, GHG emissions etc). 1 like Like Comment Akshay 2 reviews September 27, 2023 Easily

Majority of documents do not even mention the word climate in their notified document. Both items
were assessed with a four-point scale: no impact at all (1), a small impact (2), a medium impact (3),
and a large impact (4). Better management of agriculture, water, electricity and waste can
simultaneously make India cleaner, protect the most vulnerable and improve living standards for all.
We will have places around this world that get too hot for people to survive, we will have water
shortages, more extreme climate, less plant productivity and more. The null model was specified to
test the proportion of variance in behavioral involvement that can be attributed to differences at the

summer, winds blow from sea to land and during winters wind blow from land to sea. Access to
sanitation was coded such that respondents who said their household has access to public sewer
system were coded as 1 and others as 0. We conducted and recorded semi-structured interviews and
collected stories of lifelong residents in Himachal Pradesh to assess the perspectives of climate
change. Placing an emphasis on regional climate assessments, the authors look at the findings
released by the Department of Science and Technology and analyse the potential impacts that await
the country. Essay on the Factors of Indian Climate: It is true that the determiners of climate go much
further than man-made political boundaries. Although its a global crisis, its tough for the average

academia to understand environment and its concerns. His works appear in Environment,
Development and Sustainability and Metropolitics journals. The second issue is lack of coherent
action and monitoring between different ministries working in different capacities to achieve targets
marked with India’s INDC. Access to sanitation was coded such that respondents who said their
household has access to public sewer system were coded as 1 and others as 0. So it is considered a
more reliable indicator of future climate trends than those predicted by individual models. Whilst the
checklist includes things that we already know and have been told over years, something as little as
choices in transportation or food waste, it makes you reconsider your choices and how little (or
much) you are doing to save the environment. Her book illuminates diverse ways that local traditions
and interpretations interact with outside expertise as human beings confront planetary crisis.''. I
know about climate change and regularly read about it, but reading this book made me realize
something on a deeper level. The temperate climate is found in the mountainous regions of the
country, such as the Himalayas, and experiences cool temperatures, with the average temperature
ranging from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius. The weather heats up drastically from March through June.
Correlational analysis, t tests, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to test the construct
validity of collective efficacy measure used in the survey. She also offers a fair prognosis of the
disaster that awaits us if we don’t act. The tropical wet climate is found in the western coastal region
and the eastern region of the country, which experience high humidity and heavy rainfall throughout
the year. Less has been done to collect climate data from the perspectives of ordinary people.
Droughts, on the other hand, are caused by a lack of rainfall and are common in the northern and
central parts of the country. This chapter reviews how changes in this stance took place more to fit
into the changing international scenario and by the need to be perceived as a forward-looking nation.
Our aim is to bring you news, perspectives and knowledge to prepare you to change the world. The
climate of India can be broadly divided into four categories: tropical wet, tropical dry, temperate,
and alpine. Multilevel models, as used in this study, account for interdependence of individuals’
collective efficacy perceptions within a community. Their traditional environmental knowledge,
accumulated through generations, has helped to overcome natural hazards. Plan documents, often a

an assessment by the author of the 120 master plans, city development plans, smart city plans, and
such others, it is construed that not a single plan till late 2016 acknowledged climate change as a
phenomenon, let alone a challenge to urban development and sustenance. If you would like to

The scientific report from the ministry of earth science is edited by scientists at the Indian Institute of

They were available around May this year, and the IISc team has been quick to use them to give the

multiple perspectives gathered during fieldwork in a Himalayan foothill village. Future research
should build on these findings using panel surveys and could use government data such as the
number of water conservation activities undertaken in a community to decrease self-reporting bias
for community adaptation responses. For living standards, it uses annual household consumption

dissertation, with additional analyses and discussion included, and one additional investigator added

author’s Ph.D. dissertation and tested, using more appropriate multilevel models, if collective
efficacy perceptions can play a central role in increasing communities’ adaptive capacity ( Thaker
2012 ). However, for anyone looking for a deeper understanding of systemic solutions to tackle
climate change, the question remains only half- answered. Full efforts on the factual validity of the

efficacy is a significant and positive predictor of behavioral involvement across communities and
after holding sociodemographic and risk perception variables constant. To begin with, I was annoyed

Gangotri glacier is melting and its not news anymore. The communities most affected by changes in

c. Our choices of today are going to bring change and if we care even a teeny bit about our future,
then picking up this book can be considered the first step. Water is expected to become scarce,
forests to decline and agriculture output to fall. A mark of a good book is when it gives you many
new topics to research and much to think about. One is the physical risks and these include chronic
