A conversation about your English class

Student 1: A
Student 2: B
A: Hi
B: Hello
A: Are you new to class?
B: Yes, I think I am although I previously studied at a different class last term
A: Oh! Good to know. So what did you do before you started studying here?
B: Well, I was away from the country as I had made plans to go on a holiday back home last December
A: Hmm…okay.
B: How about you? Did you go on a holiday?
A: Yes, but I was here in Canberra spending time with my family
B: That’s nice!
A: Since you are here, Welcome to the class
B: Thank you. I look forward to practicing my English here. So, how is the class?
A: It’s good. I’m enjoying it since we practice different areas of English language with real-life context
B: Oh! Like what?
A: Speaking, listening, writing and reading and so many more
B: Well, I am looking forward to that!
A: I recall you mentioned that you studied here previously. What did you study while you were in class?
B: hmm…In my previous class we had focused quite a bit on reading and writing until we started practicing for
the assessments due to which I am confident with those areas to a certain level.
A: All right. That’s good! We do a bit of those in class even now so I think you might find it easy!
B: No, not at all. I think I am always up for revision provided that we get some feedback at the end of each
activity.
A: Definitely, our teacher does that all the time. How do you like to learn? Maybe we can practice our
problematic areas together, if you like?
B: Yes, of course. I’d like that very much. I prefer practicing English than just studying the rules. Whereas in
my country it’s the opposite! What about you?
A: Same here. We are currently learning some vocabulary related to booking an appointment in a hospital or
Clinic and then we practice with a partner.
B: That’s brilliant. We had done something similar last term. We practiced how to book an appointment with a
lawyer and real-estate agent. I found it really helpful since I was able to put it into use when I was looking to
buy an apartment.
A: That’s great!
B: What else are we learning?
A: Don’t worry too much, You have only missed 2 days of class. I’m sure you can catch up. However, so far we
have studied about some useful listening techniques to use whenever we are in a casual or assessment
environment.
B: That’s quite helpful since I struggle with that. I’m going to request the teacher to help me out since I need all
the hacks to help me listen better. I remember there was this one time where I misunderstood the question and
I’d give the wrong answer! I was so embarrassed! I would like to avoid such scenarios in the future!
A: Don’t worry. We’ll be practicing more of it during the class. What other activities did you do in your last
class?
B: We had practiced reading for context and reading for information and we had also practiced how to write a
sentence.
A: I hope we can do some of those in class this term.
B: I hope so too as I would love to practice some more!
A: Well, I think with your enthusiasm I’m sure you can convince the teacher to teach them again!
B: Fingers crossed!
A: Do you have any idea what you would like to do after you are done with this course?
B: Hmm… I think I would like to start looking for a job once I am done and after that maybe even do another
course which is more specific to the field that I would work in.
A: You seem to have it all sorted out. I am still very confused!
B: That’s the plan for now but it’s always changing
A: Would you like to sit together? I’m looking forward to getting some of your motivation rubbed off on me
B: Sure, why not. I think that the teacher?
A: Yes, let’s get ourselves seated.
B: Sure. It was nice talking to you.
A: Same here. Talk to you soon!
B: talk to you soon.
