helps us enter data into a computer.
Types of Input Devices

Keyboard
- A computer keyboard is an input
device used to enter characters and
functions into the computer system by
pressing buttons, or keys. It is the
primary device used to enter text. A
keyboard typically contains keys for
individual letters, numbers and special
characters, as well as keys for specific
functions.
Mouse
- A mouse is a small device that a
computer user pushes across a desk
surface in order to point to a place
on a display screen and to select one
or more actions to take from that
position. The mouse first became a
widely used computer tool when
Apple Computer made it a standard
part of the Apple Macintosh.
Joystick

- A joystick is a hand-held
input device used to control

idea of using a laser to draw
images onto a copier drum
was first considered. Laser
printers are still widely used
in large offices as they are
traditionally more efficient
than inkjet printers
Inkjet Printer

Inkjet printers are one of the

most common types of printers
used in both professional and
domestic settings. Developed
in the 1950s, inkjet printing
technology is still hugely
popular today due to its
numerous advantages and
minimal drawbacks.
Dot Matrix Printer

Dot matrix printers are the

oldest established type of
printers still available on
the market. Images and text
are drawn out in tiny dots
when a print head strikes
an ink-soaked cloth against
the paper in the required
pattern or formation.
Large Format Printers

-This big brother of inkjets is

used to print posters and
canvases. Depending on the
manufacturer, large format
printers are usually dye
sublimation, but can also be
inkjet.

 What is an Electronic Devices?

Electronic device is an overarching term that

refers to a hardware whose function is to
control the flow of electrical energy for the
purpose of processing information or
controlling a system. The co
Types of Electronic Devices

Personal Computer
-a digital computer designed for use by
only one person at a time. A typical
personal computer assemblage consists of
a central processing unit, which contains
the computer’s arithmetic, logic, and
control circuitry on an integrated circuit;
computer memory; and various peripheral
devices.
Mobile phones

- is a wireless handheld device that

allows users to make and receive calls.
While the earliest generation of
mobile phones could only make and
receive calls, today’s mobile phones
do a lot more, accommodating web
browsers, games, cameras, video
players and navigational systems.
Batteries

- is an energy source consisting of one

or more electrochemical cells and
terminals on both ends called an anode
(-) and a cathode (+). Electrochemical
cells transform chemical energy into
electrical energy. Inside the battery is
an electrolyte, often consisting of
soluble salts or acids, it serves as a
conductive medium, allowing the
electric charge to travel through the
battery.
Transformer

-is a device used in the power

transmission of electric energy. The
transmission current is AC. It is
commonly used to increase or
decrease the supply voltage without a
change in the frequency of AC
between circuits. The transformer
works on the basic principles of
electromagnetic induction and mutual
induction.
Switches

- is a piece of networking hardware

that links multiple devices together
on a network. Switches are typically
small, flat boxes that contain a group
of Ethernet ports — as few as 4 on a
small home office switch that sits on
a desk, or up to several dozen on a
rack-mounted enterprise switch.
What is an Electronic Component?

An electronic component is

any basic discrete electronic
device or physical entity part
of an electronic system used to
affect electrons or their
associated fields.
Types of Electronic Components

Inductor
-An inductor, also known as a
reactor, is a passive component of
a circuit having two terminals.
This device stores energy in its
magnetic field, returning it to the
circuit whenever required.
Capacitors

- Capacitor is a passive two-

terminal electrical component
that can store energy in an
electric field electrostatically. In
simple terms, it works as a
small rechargeable battery that
stores electricity. However,
unlike a battery, it can charge
and discharge in the split of a
second.
Transistor

One of the most crucial components of

an electronic circuit, transistors have
revolutionized the field of electronics.
These tiny semiconductor devices with
three terminals have been around for
more than five decades now. They are
often used as amplifiers and switching
devices.
Diode

A diode is a two-terminal device

that allows electric current to flow
in only one direction. Thus, it is
the electronic equivalent of a
check valve or a one-way street. It
is commonly used to convert an
Alternating Current (AC) into a
Direct Current (DC).
Resistor

A resistor is a passive two-

terminal electrical device that
resists the flow of current. It is
probably the simplest element
in an electronic circuit. It is
also one of the most common
components as resistance is an
inherent element of nearly all
electronic circuits. They are
usually color-coded.
Quartz

Quartz crystals have several

applications in the electronics
industry. However, they are
mostly used as resonators in
electronic circuits. Quartz is a
naturally occurring form of
silicon.
Relay

A relay is an electromagnetic
switch that can open and close
circuits electromechanically or
electronically. You need a
relatively small current to
operate a relay. Usually, they
are used to regulate low
currents in a control circuit.
Integrated Circuit (IC)

An integrated circuit (IC), sometimes

called a chip, microchip or
microelectronic circuit, is a
semiconductor wafer on which
thousands or millions of tiny
resistors, capacitors, diodes and
transistors are fabricated. An IC can
function as an amplifier, oscillator,
timer, counter, logic gate, computer
memory, microcontroller or
microprocessor.
