Computer Hand Tools

The document outlines a lesson plan for a TLE 7 ICT class that focuses on teaching students about computer hardware servicing tools. The lesson plan aims to help students identify hardware tools based on their functions, classify tools by their uses, and appreciate the value of computer hardware tools. It provides objectives, subject matter from reference materials, and a learning procedure that includes preliminary activities, a presentation on tool categories (ESD, hand, cleaning, diagnostic), a discussion of specific tools, and an evaluation. The lesson plan aims to educate students on proper computer servicing and maintenance.

appropriate object to match with the given pictures.
D. Presentation of the lesson
 The teacher will ask the students what is the potential lesson according
to the activity conducted
 The teacher will introduce the topic
 The teacher will introduce the learning objectives
E. Discussion
Computer hardware servicing- refers to doing repairs and maintenance on the
physical components of a computer and its peripherals, including fans, hard drives,
keyboards and printers.
Computer hardware tools are classified into four equipment:
 Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) tools
 Hand Tools
 Cleaning Tools
 Diagnostic Tools
Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) Tools
Static electricity is easily generated by friction on carpets, tile flooring, clothing, hair, fabric
and etc.
1. Anti-static wrist strap- used to prevent ESD damage to computer equipment
2. Anti-Static mat- used to stand or place hardware on to prevent static electricity from
building up
3. Anti-static bag- is a packaging material that is specially designed to help prevent static
electricity interacting with sensitive electrical components.

Hand Tools
A hand tool is a device for performing work on a material or a physical system is using only
hands.
1. Flat head screw- Used to loosen or tighten slotted screws.
2. Phillips head screwdriver- used to loosen or tighten crosshead screws.
3. Torx screwdriver- used to loosen or tighten screws that have a start like depression on
top.
4. Hex driver- Is used to tighten nuts in the same way that screwdriver tighten screws.
5. Needle-nose plier- used to hold small parts.
6. Wire cutter- Used to strip and cut wires.
7 Tweezers – Used to manipulate small parts.
8. Flashlight- used to light up areas that you cannot see well
9.Soldering pencil- A tool is used to join to or more metal conductors
10.Desoldering Tool- a tool used to unsolder unwanted parts of component in the circuit
with the support of soldering pencil.
11. Precision Screwdriver- Comes from different interchangeable heads which can be
switched, used for tiny screws.
12. Crimping Tool- Use to connect wires into the metal components of the computer.

Cleaning Tools
Having the appropriate cleaning tools is essential when maintaining or repairing computers.

1. Lint-free clothes- used to clean different computer components without the stretching or
leaving debris
2. Compressed air- used to blow away dust and debris from the different computer parts
without touching the components
3. Cable ties- used to bundle cables neatly inside and outside of computer.
4. Parts organizer- used to hold screws, jumpers, fasteners and other small parts and
prevents them from getting mixed together
5. Paint brush- its long and soft natural bristles can be used to dust off the surface of circuit
boards and it’s hard to reach areas
6. Rubbing Alcohol- used to wipe away sticky substances on the surfaces of component

Diagnostic Tools
Diagnostic tools are used to test integrity of circuits and functionality tools.

1. Digital Multimeter- A handy and battery operated tool used to measure voltage, current
and resistance and effective tool to check or diagnose if the circuits in a component is working or not

2. Loopback Adapter- Used to test the functionality of computer ports

F. Generalization
On that day, the teacher will ask the students to recall the lesson.

G. Application
The teacher will instruct the students to classify tools according to their categories.
