This essay will attempt to review the services of health care agencies in my community using
Silver Lining care agency as a case study. I will endeavor to identify the essential services
provided by this selected agency, and how their services help to maintain community living for
Manitobans.
Furthermore, I will review the activities of Health care aide personnels working as core member
of staff of these agencies with emphasis on the critical roles they play in providing home care to
clients and the advantages and benefits of working in home care as a health care aide personnel
for these agencies.
Silver Lining care agency provides support to care seekers through their home care program
which delivers a wide range of health and home support services including short term care for
those recovering from surgery or acute medical conditions, long term home care and support to
allow those with chronic disease to continue living in the community.
The focus of this type of program is to channel efforts with the goal of providing support and
care for individuals in their residence. This is to enable them to achieve and continue to
maintain a high level of well-being in the familiar environment of their homes.
This agency function and achieve her objective with different personnel and care types including
Doctor’s care- Doctor visiting the house, Nursing Care (Most common), Physical, occupational or
speech therapy, Medical social services-like counselling, help in recovery, Care from home
health care aides, home makers or basic assistance care
Like Silver Lining, there are other agencies within my community that are involved in the same
home health Care services. They provide a range of medical health and home support services
for individuals and families, and they include:

Heavenly care agency
Silver lining care
Pfahl’s Home health care
Linden Place

Their services ranges from home support in meal preparation and Baking, providing
Companionship to clients at their home, helping with client’s daily activities, medication
administration, Laundry and light housekeeping., transferring, Hoyer lifts, respite and Childcare,
bathing and toileting, Overnight care, accompany clients for appointments., grocery shopping
and errands and a palliative approach to care including support at the end of the life.
These services are vital and important to maintain community living for Manitobans as they
ensure a higher quality of life for residents while helping them keep safe and more comfortable
in their homes.

For instance, Personal Care such as bathing and toileting, transferring, Hoyer lift, helps in
promoting self-esteem and healing, it provides opportunity to access client skin and
communicate with patients about their feelings and thoughts
Transferring helps in exercising of their muscles and joints and it prevents pressure ulcer from
occurring.
Companionship provided to clients is essential because it helps them maintain a sense of
connection to those in their lives, additionally, it reduces feelings of loneliness, anxiety and
stress that can lead to physical and mental health problems. While services like medication
monitoring help to control the side effects of some medications which may lead to new
symptoms or worsen existing symptoms. In all these services help Manitobans to better and
improve their quality of life.
The health care aide personnels are very much involved in providing most of the services
mentioned earlier and their tasks in the care services include, performing assigned tasked
directed at meeting the hygiene needs of clients as stated below
Bathing
Skin care
Mouth care
Hair care
Assisting client to obtain adequate rest, exercise and comfort as directed.
Assisting clients in preparing meals and helping them in eating it
Reporting to home care case coordinators any difficulties encountered clients.
Assisting in meeting client safety needs.
Assisting with light housekeeping.
Assisting in meeting medical appointments
Helping in transporting clients.
As a health care aide personnel, working in home care comes with some responsibilities and
