Lesson Minor Chords
2
What’s In
Three major chords run in a Key signature. They are the tonic chord, sub-dominant
chord, and dominant chord. There are still chords or triads that we can use to give
harmony to a song.
These are the alternative chords used as accompaniment. These are built on
the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th degree of the scale. These are the minor triads or
minor chords.

What I Have Learned
The primary chords are the major chords while the secondary chords are
called the minor chords. These are located in the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th degree of
the scale and it gives the listeners a feeling of sadness. The minor chords are
also referred to as Supertonic, Mediant, and Sub-mediant. To identify the
major and minor chords, just build the triads of every degree of the scale.
1st, 4th, and 5th are the major chords, and 2nd, 3rd, and 6th are the minor
chords.
