VERB + -ing VERB + to + infinitive VERB + object + to +inf.
(If these verbs are followed by another afford advise verb, the structure is: verb + -ing) agree allow admit allow (passive) ask adore appear beg allow arrange encourage avoid ask expect can’t stand attempt force carry on choose invite consider dare order deny decide permit delay expect persuade (don´t) mind fail recommend enjoy forget remind fancy help teach finish hope tell give up learn want imagine manage warn involve offer would keep (on) plan like postpone pretend eg. They invited us to stay in their practise promise house. put off refuse She told me to come on time. recommend seem They asked us not to make such a risk tend noise. suggest threaten want eg. He denied stealing the purse. would like I don´t mind helping you. VERB + object + inf. He doesn´t allow smoking in his house. eg. I can´t afford to go on holiday. (no TO in this structure) He recommended staying in that hotel. She´s decided to give up her job. help It seems to be a nice day. let He agreed to lend me some money. make VERB + -ing / to inf. You are not allowed to smoke here. e.g. Let me show you. (no change in meaning) The news made her cry. begin I´ll help you do it. continue intend start eg. It started to rain / raining.
