Target language: Grammar: Present Simple
Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- identify the positive, negative, and question forms of Present Simple
-identify the usage of the present simple with the subject pronouns (I, you, we,
they).
-use the rule of (s-es) in present simple
-use the present simple in practical conversation and writing correctly.

Stage Activities Materials Time

Greeting
-T. will chat with my students
-T. is going to write the date and fill in the class
information box at the corn of the board. 5mn
-T. will ask them to share about their daily
routine.
Warm up
Engage -T. asks questions: White board,
How do you come to school? Marker 5mn
Do you like this school?
-Ask them to think two minutes and make sentences
as much as possible
Transition
-T. asks what are we going to learn today?
-T. is going to ‘say’ today you are going to learn
grammar lesson about Present Simple
Activity1
-T. writes down some sentences on the white board
I live in Cambodia. 10mn
They don’t like pizza.
Do you go to work? Textbook
Where do you live? Marker
Study -T. asks what tens is it? Whiteboard
- T. reviews some rules of adding (s- es) in base verbs
with the third person singular subjects.
- Then T. provides them the forms of Present Simple
and the usages with adverb Frequency on grammar
spot in the book.
- T. explains the short and full forms of answering the
questions
Activity2
• Gap filling (Section 3.1)
- Students are handled the handout by the
teacher and they must work individually. 10mn
- Students are required to use the words they
have chosen from the box to fill in the gap and Exercise in the
T. did items 1 as a guide for them to do this book
exercise.
- T. sets 5 minutes for the whole activity and ask
them to compare their answer with their
neighbor.
- T. will give the answer to the whole class
afterward

Activity3 (Role play)


- T. gives them the instruction clearly: We are
going to do the roleplay then you will have to 10mn
share your friend information later
Activate - T. asks them to work in pairs on the roleplay
that related to their own daily routine
-Then T. chooses two students to share about their
friend’s information in the whole class.
Activity4
• Mingle Questions
- T. asks them to make three questions about 10mn
present simple then walk around and aske their friends
at least three people in the class
Ex: What do you like to do when you have free time? Paper
- T. asks one volunteer students to report the Pen
information that they got

Activity5
• Wrap up
-T. will ask a few students to summary what
they have learnt today.
Ex. What did you learn today?
- T. will ask my students to do the exercise in
the workbook as their home work 10mn
- T. praises all the students for working very
hard, and remind them to review their lesson
before the next session starts.
- Last but not least T. will ask them do they have
any question?
- Then T. says Goodbye to my student and wish
them for a lovely day!
