Welcome to TLE 8 Module: Store Technical Drawing and Equipment/Instruments
This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators
fromSchools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its Officer-In-Charge Schools
Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A. Agustin in partnership with
the Local Government of Pasig through its mayor, HonorableVico Sotto.
The writers utilized the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum using the Most
Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) while overcoming their personal, social,
and economic constraints in schooling.
This learning material hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help
learners acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs namely:
Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking and Character while
taking into consideration their needs and circumstances.

Welcome to TLE 8 Module: Store Technical Drawing and Equipment/Instrument
The hand is one of the most symbolized part of the human body. It is often used to
depict skill, action and purpose. Through our hands we may learn, create and
accomplish. Hence, the hand in this learning resource signifies that you as a
learner is capable and empowered to successfully achieve the relevant
competencies and skills at your own pace and time. Your academic success lies in
your own hands!
This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful opportunities
for guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You will be
enabled to process the contents of the learning material while being an active

EXPECTATION
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
A. Identify the tasks to be undertaken for care and maintenance of drawings
instrument;
B. Draw situations that show the proper care and maintenance of the drawing
instrument; and
C. Appreciate the value of 5S at the school and home.

Store and Maintenance
It is very important or essential to properly store and maintain the good
condition of a tool. Maintenance of a tool should be scheduled to check if the tool is
safe to use and if it is in good condition.
5S
5S provides the foundation for all quality improvement programs and it is
not only a matter of good housekeeping. It is a process that makes people more
productive and companies through education and the practice of 5S.
1. Seiri – Sorting/Putting things in order (Discard what is not needed so
that there are fewer hazards and less clutter to interfere with work. Keep
only what is needed)
In using tools or drawing instrument, identify first what are the things
needed in a certain task.
2. Seiton – Orderliness/Proper Arrangement(Place things in such a way
that they can be easily reached whenever they are needed. The tools are
arranged properly so that tools can easily locate.)
Put tools or drawing instruments near the workplace so that they can
easily be reached and used.
3. Seiso – Clean/Cleanliness. (Keep materials, tools, and instruments
free from dirt always.)
After using all the tools or drawing instruments, make sure that it is
clean or free from dirt before storing it. Don’t forget to clean the
workplace.
4. Seiketsu – Standardize/Purity (maintain cleanliness after cleaning,
consistently-perpetual cleaning.) Maintaining standard.
Maintain cleanliness of the tools and workplace after used every time
5. Shitsuke – Sustaining/commitment(Maintain standards and keep the
workplace in safe and efficient order day after day, or even year after
year.)
Sustaining the standard of cleaning the tools and workplace. It helps
reduce the accident in the workplace and make the tools in good
condition.
Example:
The benefits of storing tools in a proper place and maintaining its good
condition are as follows; it saves money, secured safety, easy to use and it will last
long.
Below are some tips to properly store and maintain the good quality of the tools.
1. Drawing Board
➢ When fastening drawing on the drawing board use clip or tape
➢ Do not use a blade or knife to cut something on the surface of your
drawing board.
➢ Always cover the surface with cardboard or thick paper.
➢ The drawing board must keep in a safe place when not in use.
2. T-square
➢ Don’t damage the edge of the T-square.
➢ Dents will make it unusable.
➢ Always clean the T-square before use.
➢ Don’t substitute the hammer with a T-square
3. Set squares
➢ Always clean your set square before use.
➢ Store set squares in a safe place, avoid bending it, it may break
➢ Don’t scratch or mark the set square.
4. Pencil
➢ Keep the pencil sharp always and store it properly after use.
➢ While sharpening the pencil, stay away from other drawing tools.
5. Dividers and compasses
➢ Always take care of the needlepoint of the compass
➢ Do not the joints of the legs of the dividers.
➢ Do not compass and divider as a substitute in fastening draw in the
drawing board
6. Eraser
➢ Cleaning eraser, used cotton cloth and rub it or washing them with soapy
water, and don’t forget to dry them before using.
These techniques help the company to be more efficient and productive. Below
are the good practices of applying 5S in the workplace.
1. A Well-arranged workplace make tools easy to locate or find
2. Clean and well function equipment lessens the prone to accidents.
3. Clean workplace, less dust that may lead to fewer health issues.
4. A safer workplace, free from injuries or hazards.
5. A clean and safe workplace may lead to higher productivity.
