FLCT (Module 7)

This document contains a pre-test and assessment for a learning module on facilitating learner-centered teaching. The pre-test has 10 multiple choice questions testing knowledge of peer interactive learning strategies like cooperative learning, reciprocal teaching, and peer tutoring. The assessment asks the student to define reciprocal teaching and cooperative learning and name three features of peer interactive learning strategies, which are identified as tutoring, feedback, and group settings.

Directions: Recall your high school days. Determine if there was anything in your
previous classes which indicate that you were afforded the opportunity to construct
your own learning. Describe the episode. Determine also if that episode has
features of the socio-constructivist perspective of learning.

In our high school days teacher should use a different methods to become an
efficient and emphasize of students to build a new learning and a constructivist
classroom, problem solving is the most important activity. To ask questions, study a
topic, and find solutions and answers, students employ inquiry methods. Students
draw conclusions as they research the issue, then revisit those conclusions as their
research progresses. More questions arise as a result of the investigation of the
first.

With the exception of the higher emphasis on learning through social interaction
and the significance placed on cultural background, there is a great deal of overlap
between a constructivist and a social constructivist classroom. Culture, according to
Vygotsky, provides the cognitive tools that a kid requires to mature. Adults in the
learner's surroundings act as conduits for cultural instruments such as language,
cultural history, social context, and, more recently, computerized information
access.

Collaboration is a method of peer interaction mediated and structured by the

teacher in social constructivist classrooms. It's possible to have a discussion

A. Define the following terms.

1.Reciprocal teaching

- This entails the teacher and students taking turns leading and asking questions during
the discussion. In small group reading sessions, reciprocal teaching refers to an
instructional activity in which students take on the role of the teacher. Teachers
demonstrate how to direct group conversations using four strategies: summarizing,
question generation, clarification, and prediction. After learning the skills, students
take turns playing teacher and conducting a discussion about what they've read.

2. Cooperative Cooperative
- is a collaborative method in which students work together in small groups to attain a
common goal. Any student learning a second language will benefit greatly from
cooperative learning. Cooperative learning activities encourage peer engagement,
which aids in the development of lab language as well as the understanding of topics
and information. The characteristics of cooperative learning are as follows.

 Students are divided into small groups by the teacher.

 Groups have one or more common objectives to work toward.

B. Name and describe three features common to peer interactive learning strategies.

Tutoring

 a peer educational strategy in which students help struggling peers with their
studies. It's a technique in which a student with superior knowledge and skills tutors
a peer.

Feedback

 gives students opportunities to learn from each other. In interactive learning

environment, learners are exposed to different views amd recieves feedback. In this
way, they can discover flaws and inconsistencies and they can think and self
correct.

Group settings
