‭THE‬‭PROBLEM‬

‭Introducton‬

‭The‬ ‭Accountancy,‬ ‭Business,‬ ‭and‬ ‭Management‬ ‭(ABM)‬ ‭Strand‬ ‭provides‬

‭students‬‭with‬‭the‬‭skills‬‭and‬‭knowlegde‬‭they‬‭need‬‭to‬‭work‬‭in‬‭the‬‭corporate‬‭world.‬

‭One‬ ‭of‬ ‭the‬ ‭necessary‬‭major‬‭subject‬‭that‬‭they‬‭need‬‭to‬‭pass‬‭is‬‭accounting.‬‭Basic‬

‭accounting‬‭is‬‭practice‬‭of‬‭recording‬‭and‬‭reporting‬‭business‬‭transaction;‬‭it‬‭has‬‭five‬

‭major‬ ‭accounts,‬ ‭that‬ ‭is,‬ ‭asset,‬ ‭liability,‬ ‭capital,‬ ‭revenue,‬ ‭and‬ ‭expense.‬ ‭Every‬

‭student‬ ‭must‬ ‭have‬ ‭analytical‬ ‭thinking,‬ ‭and‬ ‭problem-solving‬ ‭skills.‬ ‭With‬ ‭good‬

‭reason‬ ‭,‬ ‭the‬ ‭Accountancy,‬ ‭Business,‬ ‭Management‬ ‭(ABM)‬ ‭strand‬ ‭is‬ ‭one‬ ‭of‬ ‭the‬

‭most‬ ‭popular‬ ‭in‬ ‭senior‬ ‭high‬ ‭school.‬ ‭Together‬ ‭with‬ ‭practical‬ ‭skills‬ ‭that‬ ‭ABM‬

‭students‬ ‭may‬ ‭use‬ ‭in‬ ‭a‬ ‭range‬ ‭of‬ ‭professinal‬‭choices,‬‭it‬‭give‬‭students‬‭a‬‭thorough‬

‭understanding‬‭of‬‭business‬‭and‬‭management‬‭fundamentals.‬

‭Throughout‬ ‭of‬ ‭the‬ ‭students‬ ‭academic‬ ‭careers,‬ ‭ABM‬ ‭students‬ ‭encounter‬

‭variety‬ ‭of‬ ‭difficulties.‬ ‭The‬ ‭difficulty‬ ‭of‬ ‭the‬ ‭subjects‬ ‭study‬ ‭is‬ ‭one‬ ‭of‬ ‭the‬ ‭main‬

‭obstacle‬ ‭of‬‭ABM‬‭students.‬‭Economics,‬‭accounting,‬‭and‬‭finance‬‭are‬‭examples‬‭of‬

‭subjects‬ ‭that‬ ‭can‬ ‭be‬ ‭challenging‬ ‭to‬ ‭understand,‬ ‭and‬ ‭students‬ ‭need‬ ‭to‬ ‭have‬ ‭a‬

‭strong‬‭foundation‬‭in‬‭Mathematics‬‭and‬‭critical‬‭thinking‬‭skills‬‭to‬‭suceed.‬

‭Another‬ ‭challenge‬ ‭faced‬ ‭by‬ ‭ABM‬ ‭students‬ ‭is‬ ‭the‬ ‭workload.‬ ‭The‬ ‭ABM‬

‭curriculum‬‭is‬‭rigorous,‬‭and‬‭students‬‭need‬‭to‬‭dedicate‬‭a‬‭significant‬‭amount‬‭of‬‭time‬

‭to‬‭studying‬‭and‬‭completing‬‭assignments.‬‭The‬‭students‬‭also‬‭need‬‭to‬‭balance‬‭the‬

‭academic‬‭responsibilities‬‭with‬‭extracurricular‬‭activities,‬‭such‬‭as‬‭clubs‬‭and‬‭sports.‬
‭Students‬ ‭studying‬ ‭ABM‬ ‭strand‬ ‭also‬ ‭have‬ ‭difficulties‬ ‭in‬ ‭social‬ ‭activities.‬‭It‬

‭could‬ ‭be‬ ‭difficult‬ ‭for‬ ‭the‬ ‭students‬ ‭to‬ ‭strike‬ ‭a‬ ‭balance‬ ‭between‬ ‭social‬ ‭lives‬ ‭and‬

‭schoolworks‬ ‭because‬ ‭of‬‭the‬‭workload‬‭and‬‭emphasis‬‭on‬‭academic‬‭achievement.‬

‭Finding‬‭time‬‭to‬‭spend‬‭with‬‭friends‬‭and‬‭family‬‭can‬‭be‬‭difficilt,‬‭which‬‭lead‬‭to‬‭feeling‬

‭of‬‭loneliness‬‭and‬‭isolation.‬

‭Despite‬ ‭the‬ ‭challenges,‬ ‭ABM‬ ‭students‬ ‭also‬ ‭have‬ ‭many‬ ‭positive‬

‭experiences.‬ ‭Students‬ ‭can‬ ‭get‬ ‭learning‬ ‭and‬ ‭experienced‬ ‭qualified‬ ‭teacher‬ ‭who‬

‭are‬ ‭passionate‬ ‭about‬ ‭the‬ ‭student‬ ‭subjects.‬ ‭The‬ ‭student‬ ‭also‬ ‭have‬ ‭acess‬ ‭to‬ ‭a‬

‭wide‬‭range‬‭of‬‭resources,‬‭such‬‭as‬‭textbooks,‬‭online‬‭courses,‬‭and‬‭tutorials,‬‭to‬‭help‬

‭the‬‭student‬‭suceed.‬

‭ABM‬ ‭students‬ ‭also‬ ‭have‬ ‭the‬ ‭opportunity‬ ‭to‬ ‭participate‬ ‭in‬ ‭various‬

‭extracurricular‬ ‭activities,‬ ‭including‬ ‭networking‬ ‭events,‬ ‭internships,‬ ‭and‬‭business‬

‭competions.‬ ‭Students‬ ‭can‬ ‭learn‬ ‭useful‬ ‭skills‬ ‭and‬ ‭obtain‬ ‭important‬ ‭insights‬ ‭into‬

‭the‬‭business‬‭world‬‭through‬‭these‬‭encounters‬‭(Lee,‬‭2021).‬

‭The‬‭purpose‬‭of‬‭this‬‭study‬‭is‬‭to‬‭know‬‭the‬‭difficulties‬‭faced‬‭by‬‭ABM‬‭students‬

‭in‬ ‭their‬ ‭specialized‬ ‭subject‬ ‭(Alvarado,‬ ‭2019),‬ ‭and‬ ‭also‬ ‭to‬ ‭know‬ ‭what‬ ‭are‬ ‭the‬

‭positive‬‭experiences‬‭of‬‭the‬‭ABM‬‭students.‬‭The‬‭purpose‬‭of‬‭this‬‭paper‬‭is‬‭ascertain‬

‭the‬‭academic‬‭performance‬‭level‬‭of‬‭the‬‭students‬‭enrolled‬‭in‬‭ABM‬‭strand.‬

‭This‬‭study‬‭deals‬‭with‬‭the‬‭lived‬‭experiences‬‭of‬‭Grade‬‭11‬‭students‬‭focus‬‭on‬

‭Accountancy,‬‭Business‬‭and‬‭Management‬‭(ABM)‬‭strand‬‭in‬‭exploring‬‭the‬‭students‬

‭individual‬ ‭journey‬ ‭within‬ ‭this‬ ‭specialization,‬ ‭this‬ ‭study‬ ‭aims‬ ‭to‬ ‭provide‬ ‭insights‬

‭into‬ ‭problems,‬ ‭achievements,‬ ‭and‬ ‭general‬ ‭perspective,‬‭giving‬‭attention‬‭to‬‭every‬

‭aspects‬‭of‬‭students‬‭educational‬‭and‬‭career‬‭paths.‬
‭Through‬ ‭an‬ ‭examination‬ ‭of‬ ‭the‬ ‭difficulties‬ ‭and‬ ‭achievements‬ ‭faced‬ ‭by‬

‭Senior‬ ‭High‬ ‭School‬ ‭students‬ ‭enrolled‬ ‭in‬ ‭Accountancy,‬ ‭Business‬ ‭and‬

‭Management‬ ‭or‬ ‭ABM,‬ ‭specializatin,‬ ‭this‬ ‭study‬ ‭aims‬ ‭to‬ ‭offer‬ ‭a‬ ‭complete‬

‭understanding‬ ‭of‬ ‭how‬ ‭the‬ ‭learners‬ ‭navigate‬ ‭and‬ ‭perceive‬ ‭the‬ ‭students‬ ‭career‬

‭paths.‬ ‭Understanding‬ ‭these‬ ‭lived‬ ‭experiences‬‭can‬‭help‬‭to‬‭enhance‬‭instructional‬

‭practices‬‭and‬‭give‬‭students‬‭with‬‭better‬‭support‬‭in‬‭this‬‭particular‬‭subject.‬

‭Statement‬‭of‬‭the‬‭Problem‬

‭This‬ ‭study‬ ‭aims‬ ‭to‬ ‭explore‬ ‭the‬ ‭lived‬ ‭experiences‬ ‭og‬ ‭Grade‬ ‭11‬

‭Accountancy,‬‭Business‬‭and‬‭Management‬‭(ABM)‬‭in‬‭their‬‭specialization.‬

‭Specially,‬‭the‬‭study‬‭seeks‬‭to‬‭answer‬‭the‬‭following‬‭qustions:‬

‭1.‬ ‭What‬ ‭difficulties‬ ‭did‬ ‭the‬ ‭ABM‬ ‭students‬ ‭encountered‬ ‭in‬ ‭their‬

‭specialized‬‭subject?‬

‭2.‬ ‭How‬ ‭do‬ ‭the‬ ‭participants‬ ‭deal‬ ‭with‬‭the‬‭challenges‬‭and‬‭difficulties‬‭in‬

‭their‬‭specialized‬‭subject?‬

‭3.‬ ‭What‬‭are‬‭the‬‭motivation‬‭for‬‭Grade‬‭11‬‭ABM‬‭students‬‭to‬‭choose‬‭their‬

‭strand/‬

‭Scope‬‭and‬‭Delimitation‬

‭Teachers‬ ‭and‬ ‭trainers‬ ‭can‬ ‭better‬ ‭adapt‬ ‭past‬ ‭curricular‬ ‭and‬ ‭teaching‬

‭strategies‬‭to‬‭the‬‭needs‬‭and‬‭interests‬‭of‬‭students‬‭by‬‭taking‬‭into‬‭account‬‭what‬‭they‬

‭went‬ ‭through.‬ ‭Better‬ ‭learning‬ ‭and‬ ‭more‬ ‭interesting‬ ‭educational‬‭experience‬‭may‬

‭result‬ ‭from‬ ‭this.‬ ‭Through‬ ‭an‬ ‭analysis‬ ‭of‬ ‭these‬ ‭student’s‬ ‭lived‬ ‭eperiences,‬

‭researchers‬ ‭may‬ ‭identify‬ ‭potential‬ ‭difficulties‬ ‭students‬ ‭may‬ ‭encounter‬ ‭while‬

‭pursuing‬ ‭their‬ ‭interest.‬ ‭This‬ ‭can‬ ‭facilitate‬ ‭the‬ ‭creation‬ ‭of‬ ‭resources‬‭and‬‭support‬
‭networks‬ ‭to‬ ‭deal‬ ‭with‬ ‭these‬ ‭issues,‬ ‭enabling‬ ‭a‬ ‭more‬ ‭seamless‬ ‭entry‬ ‭into‬ ‭job‬

‭opportunities‬‭in‬‭the‬‭Accountancy,‬‭Business‬‭and‬‭Management‬‭(ABM)‬‭strand.‬

‭The‬ ‭results‬ ‭of‬ ‭this‬ ‭study‬ ‭provide‬ ‭valuable‬ ‭insight‬ ‭into‬ ‭the‬ ‭aspiration‬ ‭and‬

‭expectations‬ ‭of‬ ‭the‬ ‭next‬ ‭generation‬ ‭of‬ ‭Grade‬ ‭11‬ ‭ABM.‬ ‭This‬ ‭study‬ ‭provides‬

‭students‬ ‭with‬ ‭acomprehensive‬ ‭understanding‬ ‭of‬ ‭the‬ ‭principles‬ ‭of‬ ‭buisness,‬

‭management,‬‭as‬‭well‬‭as‬‭practical‬‭skills‬‭that‬‭they‬‭can‬‭apply‬‭to‬‭a‬‭variety‬‭of‬‭career‬

‭paths.‬

‭Significance‬‭of‬‭the‬‭Study‬

‭The‬ ‭resaercher‬ ‭envisioned‬ ‭that‬ ‭the‬ ‭findings‬ ‭of‬ ‭the‬ ‭proposed‬ ‭study‬ ‭are‬

‭significant‬ ‭and‬ ‭useful‬ ‭to‬ ‭the‬ ‭teacher,‬ ‭parents,‬ ‭students,‬ ‭future‬ ‭researcher‬ ‭and‬

‭researcher.‬

‭To‬‭the‬‭teachers‬‭–‬‭This‬‭study‬‭provides‬‭insightful‬‭information‬‭on‬‭the‬‭unique‬

‭difficulties‬ ‭and‬ ‭preferred‬ ‭methods‬ ‭of‬ ‭learning‬ ‭that‬ ‭Grade‬ ‭11‬ ‭ABM‬ ‭students‬ ‭in‬

‭specialized‬‭subject‬‭face.‬

‭To‬‭the‬‭parents‬‭–‬‭This‬‭study‬‭offers‬‭more‬‭profound‬‭comprehension‬‭of‬‭their‬

‭children’s‬ ‭experiences‬ ‭and‬ ‭difficulties‬ ‭in‬ ‭their‬ ‭specialized‬ ‭subject,‬ ‭acting‬ ‭as‬ ‭a‬

‭resource‬‭for‬‭the‬‭parent.‬

‭To‬ ‭the‬ ‭students‬ ‭–‬ ‭The‬ ‭study‬ ‭gives‬‭the‬‭acknowledgement‬‭and‬‭validation‬

‭for‬‭their‬‭struggles‬‭and‬‭success‬‭by‬‭shedding‬‭light‬‭on‬‭their‬‭real-world‬‭experiences‬

‭working‬ ‭in‬ ‭their‬ ‭specialized‬ ‭subject‬‭as‬‭Grade‬‭11‬‭ABM‬‭students.‬‭Given‬‭that‬‭their‬

‭experiences‬ ‭and‬ ‭viewpoints‬ ‭are‬ ‭acknowledged‬ ‭and‬ ‭appreciated,‬ ‭students‬ ‭feel‬

‭more‬ ‭confident‬ ‭and‬ ‭enthusiastic‬ ‭about‬ ‭pursuing‬ ‭career‬ ‭choices‬ ‭in‬ ‭the‬ ‭ABM‬

‭strand‬‭as‬‭a‬‭result‬‭of‬‭the‬‭study’s‬‭findings.‬
‭To‬ ‭the‬ ‭future‬ ‭researchers‬ ‭–‬ ‭The‬ ‭study‬ ‭will‬ ‭also‬ ‭help‬ ‭the‬ ‭future‬

‭researchers‬ ‭to‬ ‭serve‬ ‭as‬ ‭reference‬ ‭for‬ ‭studies‬ ‭related‬ ‭to‬ ‭lived‬ ‭experiences‬ ‭of‬

‭Grade‬‭11‬‭ABM‬‭students‬‭in‬‭their‬‭specialized‬‭subject.‬

‭To‬ ‭the‬ ‭researchers‬ ‭–‬ ‭This‬ ‭study‬ ‭offers‬ ‭researchers‬ ‭important‬ ‭new‬

‭information‬ ‭on‬ ‭how‬ ‭Grade‬ ‭11‬ ‭ABM‬ ‭students‬ ‭experience‬ ‭and‬ ‭interpret‬ ‭their‬

‭specialized‬‭subject.‬
