What is the best method of teaching? Is there such a thing?

- For me the best method is student-centered teaching, why? Because it is more focused to the
students learning and they are also the one whose responsible on how to gain knowledge.
Teachers are only the facilitator of what instructions and how are they going to do such works.

How do we select the appropriate strategy for our lessons?
- For me it depends on what subject corner or what activities that a teacher going to use, the
teacher must consider the appropriate strategy that are aligned with the needs and
appropriate to the learners learning styles.

OBSERVE
Observe a class and answer the following questions.

1. Did the Teacher state the learning objectives/intended learning outcomes (ILOs) at the
beginning of the class. Did he/she share them with the class? How?
- No, he always start his day of class with reviewing the previous lesson and asking some
questions about lesson yesterday, and then he start with the motivation to caught the attention
and also make the lesson more enjoyable.
2. What teaching-learning activities (TLAs) did he/she use? Did these TLAs help him/her attain his/her
lesson objectives/ILOs? Explain your answer.
- He use hands on activities and also reading and comprehension activities. Yes he attains his lesson
objectives using those activities because the students are more attentive and responsive when being
taught orally and their performance.
3. What assessment task/s did teacher employ? Is/Are these aligned to the lesson objectives/ILOs?
- The fact that it is an elementary grade, the teacher using a paper test to assess the students
attainment of the lesson. But so far as I observed it is effective in assessing students learning.
ANALYZE
1. What are your thoughts about Outcome-Based Teaching and Learning (OBTL)?
- My thoughts about OBTL is that this strategy is beneficial in both teachers and students why?
because it gives pupils the opportunity to learn beyond the conventional bounds. This pedagogical
approach emphasizes flexibility, scalability, and customization, with educators and students acting as
collaborators to accomplish shared objectives.

Reflect on the use of OBTL

I think an effective way to make sure children understand why is through outcome-based teaching and
learning. The creation of instructional materials to improve the learning experiences of students, the
planning of evaluation procedures to track their progress toward learning objectives, and the attainment
of the intended results and qualities. Gathering input from stakeholders in order to make ongoing
improvements. Additionally, because it allows for open contact between professors and students, it
benefits both parties.

I will observe one Resource Teacher with the use of this observation sheet. Using the guide
questions, I shall reflect on my observations and analysis.
Types of Question Examples of Questions that the Resource Teacher Asked

1. Factual/Convergent My Resource Teacher ask the W questions, Who, What and Where
Closed/Low level to the learners. Example is “ Who’s the author of the story that you
have read?
2. My Resource Teacher ask a reflection or a deeper thoughts of the
Divergent/Higher-order/Open children about the situation or a problem. Opinions and beliefs are
-ended/Conceptual accepted.
a. evaluation The teacher asked about their understanding about the lesson.
b. inference The teacher asked about what is the effect of the lesson to their self
and their daily living.
c. comparison The teacher ask the same questions with every learners and assist
their understanding and compare it with one another.
d. application The teacher give an scenario to apply the learning of the students to
the real world or real scenarios.
e. problem-solving The teacher give some problem and the learners will give their
decisions to make if they are in the situation.
3. Affective The teacher asked what is the moral lesson of the story and how did
this affect their behavior.

1. Neil Postman once said: “Children go to school as question marks and leave school as periods!” Does
this have something to do with the type of questions that teachers ask and the questioning and reacting
techniques that they employ?

The importance of using various reacting techniques

- Using effective questioning strategies can help kids learn, grow as thinkers, generate coherent
ideas, pique their interest, and be motivated to take action. It is also one of the ways educators
support learners in expanding their knowledge more successfully. Additionally, questions aid in
content retention by giving language to previously unspoken ideas.
