Excel Assignment № 1

1-task (5 min):
a. To open a new Excel book.
b. Into the first sheet to the cells A1 and B1 enter your name and today’s date, respectively.
c. To format data as bold, font size 14 and change font color (any other color than black).

2-task (5 min):
a. To enter following data:

b. To add 6 more students with the similar data. You may use the autocomplete function of
Excel.

3-task (10 min):


a. To choose the column «Grade».
b. To copy it (Ctrl+C).
c. To paste in column D.
d. To change the font style as bold and centralize the data in the cells of the D column.

4-task (10 min):


a. To choose the B13 cell if it is empty, if not choose the next empty cell (down).
b. To enter the word «Average grade:».
c. To use Excel functions to count average grade for all students.
d. To enter this value into the C13 cell, if it is empty, if not use the next cell on right and put
two decimals after the comma using Format Cell command.
e. To fill the following table using data from the above Students table. Use formulas and/or
functions to calculate it

5-task (5 min):
a. To add a note about Average grade for the C13 cell.

6-task (5 min):
a. In the whole column “Name” find ‘a’ letter and replace it with ‘A’ letter.
7-task (5 min):
a. To add a new sheet and rename it “Sorting”.
b. To enter the following table:

c. To apply sorting of the table in descending order by their population.

8-task (3 min):
a. To go to the first sheet.
b. To set print page review only for the table that contain students name and add header and
footer to the printed page. For the header you should add the current date, and for the footer
add the average grade of the students.

9-task (5 min):
a. To apply filters for the students table.
b. To show only those students which have grades more than 90.
с. To leave only students whose name ends with ‘A’ letter.

10-task (5 min):
a. To go to the Sorting sheet.
b. To apply filters for the table.
c. To show only those cities which have a population of more than 1,2 million.

11-task (5 min):
a. To go to the first sheet.
b. To save all the changes and exit.
