Baku Analysis
Baku Analysis
So surpassing the leader is indeed a death match between the leader and the challenger
meaning one of them would have died for the other to retain or obtain the title of Leader. Starting
with the preparations, Baku wanted to play drop the handkerchief, because he instantly
associated it to "time", souichi who wanted to return at the origin type of match with exclusively
the referee and 2 players (why? Because the less limitations there are for his echolocation and
the more efficient he would use it, and also because he really wanted an exclusive type of match
with Usogui, another reason is that he knew yakou was the most probable one to win the match
with the referees so this was to prepare him mentally "to be the most suitable"), Baku on the
other hand knowing this would happen he wanted to guarantee yakou to be the one to preside
the match and that indirectly he would choose "drop the handkerchief" as the game, so he
dropped one behind him making him choose this game as the most suitable for the perfect mind
game and also to use this as a trump card during the referees battle. Baku and Leader
encountered at the obelisk, knowing there would be 30 minutes of the referees battle, Baku used
this moment to guide souichi; he purposely played the same game as the one played in the first
surpassing the leader, and asked souichi if he had a watch to time, this is obviously a game that
wouldn't lead nowhere since it wasn't presided by a referee so it wouldn't count; Baku asking him
the watch leading to a logical series of actions that ended up making this game futile and make
Baku break his own watch afterwards (souichi didn't have one with him), souichi saw this as
Baku confirming him not having a watch leading this to make an assumption based on "TIME",
why Baku played this? first of all to spend those 30 minutes and second to guide souichi with this
hint that would be useful for Baku to save souichi afterwards. Baku also knows from souichi's
sentence of him knowing that baku was nervous during this try, announced to baku that souichi
used echolocation to hear his heartbeat as he used this trick in (i wrote about this when this
symbol appears (*)) After yakou won and arrived at the destination with both Baku and souichi,
they noticed Kaji and oofuna at the obelisk, souichi wanted to confirm that Baku wouldn't use
some prepared tricks (and afterwards make oofuna say "we weren't always together-referring to
him and kaji, to make yakou suspect possible hidden tricks in the environment) but on the other
hand Baku who predicted this he lead Kaji to go there purposely without doing anything so that
he would make a situation where the clock hidden there wouldn't be used and instead he would
use the phone clock in the developers room where fukurou was monitoring the match. (These
actions were important for Baku as he predicted souichi's move and make sure he would use the
phone clock, he also confirmed with yakou the sound "DONG" From the phone clock to be the
most important sound that would declare the end of the 1 minute half round". After declaring
with a Rock paper scissors who would have played first and so Baku who lost used this first
round to clock how much time it would pass after one "dies" and be revived with the cpr.
(Originally who starts is also the one who would accumulate faster the squandered time, but
Baku lead souichi's into thinking "Baku who is a gambler would most probably die at the
beginning because the squandered time cylinder is empty and thus only one minute of near
death would be applied, this would be the safest near death" this logical type of thinking induced
souichi into thinking that Baku would die near the middle of a minute and so he didn't let the
handkerchief down, after this he wanted to scare baku who was about to die with a bluff into
thinking that the revival syringe was replaced with a fake and wanted to cause a mental shock;
obviously Baku knew it was a bluff, he also intentionally Turned his head near the middle of one
minute to "follow souichi's logical thinking" But his purpose was to clock the entire time of
near-death; this was, after, used as a fake proof for thinking that Baku would use his body as a
container; In that same turn Baku left his jacket on the floor and took out his necktie to use it in
the 2nd half (souichi turn), and play a mind game in which souichi would keep on wasting time
with informations while Baku who already left the handkerchief behind and went in front of
souichi without turning his back (these actions would lead to a series of thinking from souichi,
while the squandered time was going he would make him believe after bleeding from the nose
that souichi has the upper hand, making it so that souichi's squandered time would be 24
seconds it had to be low to control afterwards his squandered time using echolocation and to
make leader think he has the upper hand). In the 2nd round 1st half, leader used his sound
frequency "TSK" to confirm echolocation on both the handkerchief and baku, at the same time he
speaked to Baku with low volume voice to make the referees in the developers room low the
"tick" sound from the phone clock this is needed to take advantage of the echolocation (less
limitations, because the phone clock sound has a near frequency to the "TSK" of souichi causing
it to be ineffective), baku in that round used the safe strategy to end that first half at exaxlty :00,
(knowing souichi wouldn't think Baku would use the safe strategy that early, making him wait
until the middle of a minute to drop it and confirm that Baku would use the safe strategy), Baku
used that first half perfectly, he accumulated only 25 seconds of squandered time that is pretty
low considering he used the safe strategy, so it was the perfect time to do It, he also chose this
moment to confirm if he stayed on his sit more than that one minute if the time for the next half
round would change or not (he had to do this to this possibility and make clock the leap second
strategy perfectly). Not only that he used that opportunity to do a disguised safe strategy and
continue on clocking for the leap second using a full 1 minute (Baku is a monster) After this
souichi's confirmed the 3 near death strategy, and in his round he played the safe strategy with
the convinction that Baku wouldn't instantly drop the handkerchief and he did that also to
increase his squandered time to outbluff Baku later, but Baku who knew this would happen
because leader was basically perfectly playing the way he wanted, so he dropped the
handkerchief at 24 seconds accumultaing 36 seconds of squandered time, with the disguise of it
being a logical play that would happen in this situation "i don't think he know my three near death
strategy so i will play normal and by logic i will wait a self destruction of the opponent Without
letting my handkerchief down instantly and then i will let It go at near the middle to accumulate
squandered time after confirming a safe strategy from the opponent" that's the disguise of this
play by baku who added as much as squandered time possible (36 seconds is ideal since with
that 24 seconds, added in the minute for the first near death of souichi, would make 1 minute
(remember that Baku has to accumulate as much squandered time as possible for souichi but
without risking his complete death, so this was the most safe and it was disguised anyway so
that wouldn't be discovered by souichi). Then it was baku's turn to play as "C", the thought in this
game was this: souichi who previously confirmed baku's 3 death strategy and did a reset to
weaken yakou, has now played as " D" (3rd round second half), as of now he planned on making
the first seconds as a bait like "i don't know your three near death strayegy" so keeping the
handkerchief the first seconds and then dropping it at 10 seconds after the start would make
Baku think that souichi was checking if he (baku) would self destruct and do an instant check so
this was a logical type of play that didn't really revealed his actual meaning and that was to
corner Baku in the next round with an instant drop to make him fail his strategy, he also wanted
to make Baku take as minimum possible of squandered time to disguise his play and not letting
Baku change his strategy to the classical thinking of "i will accumulate as much possible of
squandered time and then die one time" so to fix this he intentionally keep it in the first seconds,
this was also needed for an upcoming bluff that he would pull. Obsiously again, Baku stayed at
this plan and let It finish at 10 seconds continuing on clocking the time and at the same time
make the play disguised, he knew souichi's thoughts would be like that, so he stayed at the game
and (*) used this trick of convincing himself of the possibility of the leap second leak to make his
heart race, this way leader's echolocation catched his heart race and made him believe that he
was being nervous on dying for the three near death strategy letting souichi kind of taking the
lead and baku could camouflage his aura of determination in the other round (where he made the
assumption of the leap second and made souichi hesitate on dropping the handkerchief) as to
connect these dots and complete the train of thoughts of leader into believing the three near
death strategy. At this point leader pulled a "i discovered your plan and i cornered you", he
guessed the thought of the people on the developers room who were still at the most basic
logical thought, thinking Baku had the lead (which he actually had but not as what they thought),
then he manipulated yakou into giving his all for the revival trying to outbluff Baku into thinking
that he would pull the same startegy before him. The next round, Baku who played as "C",
instantly checks to disguise himself as actually wanting to die, leader already let the
handkerchief and then revealed baku's strategy and then bluffing that he would make it before
him. Baku had to play this move to control the clock's time for the leap second and at the same
time linking this to the thoughts of souichi. His actual plan after leader's first near death was:
make souichi believe he hasn't safe strategies anymore with his aura-->in the next round
checking at ten seconds and keeping the bluff of the 3 near death strayegy inducing souichi to
instantly drop afterwards ---> checking instantly the next round to make all things connect from
souichi who was being perfectly keeping with this (fake) thoughts. (4th round 2nd half) At this
point leader obviously with full pride he was trying to take some squandered time to make it look
like he would near-death afterward and pulled the "TSK" trigger for the echolocation making it to
match his speak, he checked after 35 seconds of squandered after Baku dropped the
handkerchief. Baku kind of drove the conversation to be a check for leader around 30 seconds
(35 seconds) to keep clocking that mf leap second, leader also wanted to take some squandered
time for his next bluff and at the same time making it like a mind game with Baku while in fact he
was using echolocation (baku had to match souichi's thought so he kind of acted in leader's
destiny speak and already dropped the handkerchief trying to fake the fake mind game of
souichi). At this point Baku's heartbeat was still fast disguised in the nervousness of having to
die to reset his cylinder to have more possibilities, leader right now with the convinction that
everything went like he predicted proceeded, in the 5th round 1 half to drop instantly the
handkerchief to stop baku's instant check, baku's disguised plan worked as he made souichi do
an instant check making him believe his own bluff, while the others in the developers room
thought that Baku had the upper hand since his instant check succeded, souichi then explained
baku's 3 near death strategy and manipolated yakou into giving his full determination into revival
since he was weak, to deceive Baku into thinking he would die first in the next round; baku who
completely drove souichi in this plan he knew that souichi won't turn the next round an proceeded
to act and make it look like souichi outbluffed him (in fact at this stage of the game he knew
souichi would start to use echolocation beacuse the "tick" sound from the phone clock was
lowered before). Baku's 3 near death strategy who was just a disguised plan and a layer of the
leap second strategy, confirmed souichi was trying to outbluff him and not turning in 5th round
2nd half and so Baku dropped the handkerchief at the start knowing souichi wouldn't turn and
faking it as being deceived by souichi; leader who expected this from the 3 near-death strategy
(not knowing baku's true intentions) in fact didn't turn and he used echolocation and checked at
15 seconds which is a reasonable time giving the fact that by baku's sentence (Baku was acting),
he confirmed that he throw it so he "TSK" at the first interval of 10-15 to confirm it one more time,
this was reasonable as he didn't want to draw much squandered time so for souichi he thought
that for Baku it appared like: baku "i was being outbluffed by him and already dropped the
handkerchief so in fact he only turned at 15 seconds to be sure"- with this "baku's thought" in
souichi's mind he expected Baku to not find about echolocation. On the other way, Baku kind of
predicted this interval as in the next round when souichi was "C" he dropped the handkerchief
instantly to stay in line with the time. After this it was the 6th round and again Baku checked
instantly, to remain in line with his previous fake plan on dying 3 times and to make it look like
souichi could actually die in the next round with this souichi who was guided by baku's true
intentions hidden in his actions, he didn't dropped the handkerchief to show that in fact he from
the beginning didn't want to die and at this point he would have let Baku die knowing that the
probability of Baku being alive considering yakou's weak state and broken hand for the revival; all
of this was the outcome that Baku wanted thanks for the fact of faking his 3 death plan to let
souichi outbluff him when in fact it was Baku who deceived him so that he would die for his 2
near death and ,counting the time of death and the revival, he would enter the route of the leap
second. This was the plan, from souichi's near death and it was esecuted to make souichi's
squandered time enough and his turns to be clocked perfectly knowing that if leader discovered
the 3 near death plan he wouldn't actually die since he wants a perfect victory and for him dying
another time wouldn't let him achieve that and also because of yakou condition, so Baku who
instead gained only a low amount of squandered time thanks to his fake plan and souichi's
actions who was guided by Baku to enter the leap second route. After Baku deceived souichi who
is now convinced that Baku would go for the 3 near death game, this would let Baku counterattck
again after his revival. In baku's flashbacks in his 2nd near death, Baku saw the path leading to
the leap second (this foreshadow is revealed after the leap second) confirming that Baku now
entered the route and succesfully deceived and guided souichi. After this souichi who had
checked correctly until now and since his previous checks weren't noticed by Baku (baku knew
about him using echolocation but he had to fake doing the 3 near death plan, to not let souichi
die but to let himself enter the route,he instead controlled souichi's squandered time to be
enough for the clocking giving leader the impression that he don't Know about echolocation)
adding baku's condition after his second near-death would let him have the advantage, or atleast
that's what he thought. In the 6th round 2nd half, Baku who was "D" who had to continue bluff the
fact that he don't Know about echolocation to have souichi thinks in this logical way: "after 3
successful checks with low squandered time, Baku would think i have to take a breather and
instead he has to drop the handkerchief the accumulate squandered time but if he thinks i will do
another risky check he wouldn't drop it" from this thought Baku who is supposedly in bad
condition after the death and being supposedly outbluffed by souichi, he would think souichi
would take a breather after 3 consecutive succesful checks and have to accumulate squandered
time, but that would be logical only if he didn't know about echolocation moreover he has to
make souichi think like that, so instead he dropped it instantly and accumulated 8 seconds of
squandered time making souichi thinks he has the advantage and at the same time coinciding
this with the time for the leap second. Now that he made souichi having the advantage the best
linear thinking for this is to make souichi trapped in this fake thought created by his aura and
guiding souichi into thinking that he would discover immediatly when the handkerchief would be
dropped but his real purpose is to make souichi drop it instanly to accumulate squandered time
to farther his leap second plan making it look like it's souichi's advantage (this was the best play,
since souichi who thought he had the upper hand until now and who lead Baku into near death
and having echolocation, he wouldn't suspect baku's other reason, behind this play, in the 7th
round). At this point leader pulled a "i discovered your plan and i cornered you", he guessed the
thought of the people on the developers room who were still at the most basic logical thought,
thinking Baku had the lead (which he actually had but not as what they thought), then he
manipulated yakou into giving his all for the revival trying to outbluff Baku into thinking that he

souichi's advantage (this was the best play, since souichi who thought he had the upper hand
until now and who lead Baku into near death and having echolocation, he wouldn't suspect baku's
other reason, behind this play, in the 7th round). Until now Baku always succeded in his real
intention leading souichi into thinking that he has the advantage thanks to his 3rd near death
game where Baku entered the leap second route while seeing trought souichi and outbluffing
souichi bluffs, meanwhile he had clocked every action to be accurate to the leap second time and
making souichi take the advantage while gaining squandered time but not too much because in
the 7th round 2nd half: Baku has now two options, drop the handkerchief and accumulate
squandered time for souichi but that would kill him (why? Because later on when Baku won at the
end of leap second, souichi had 2 seconds before dying completely, even thought he did die he
was saved because of that last 2 seconds, Baku that know this since the next two rounds would
be the rounds where he would end everything with the leap second strategy), if he did that and
accumulated even only 2 seconds souichi would have died, since souichi didn't know about Baku
knowing about echolocation, in the 8th round Baku would have flattened the handkerchief and
causing souichi to think when using echolocation that he didn't drop it, and without the other
reason that i will explain later, he won't check instantly in the 8th round causing a squandered
time of 60 seconds and the 9th round to be the round of the leap second where he would die
regardless of turning instanlty or during the leap second where he would die wirhout a doubt, this
outcome would kill him since souichi didn't reset the squandered time because he wouldn't have
to, since Baku wouldn't flatten the handkerchief in the 7th round but in the 8th one causing an
imminent death exceeding the 5 minutes. This is what would have happened if Baku didn't play
that bet in the 7th round. That's why the other outcome to save souichi was to fake-take his
necktie and at the same time drop the handkerchief, this would have lead to the outcome that
Baku wanted since the first time he thought about the leap second; why? Well, souichi noticed
when Baku was about to take out the necktie that baku's hand was covering the heart in doing
that action, this made souichi thinks that Baku wanted to trick him and so checked instantly and
like he thought Baku did drop the handkerchief and not the necktie, and this was what Baku
wanted his "bet" was to let souichi notice this trick otherwise souichi who would have used the
"TSK" sound around 10 seconds would have died because Souichi would have died if that
seconds of squandered time were added to the final amount where it would exceed 5 minutes.
That's why Baku said he would bet on this and it can be noticed the noise of either the necktie or
the barrier created by the hand when covering the heart to fake take the necktie, this would make
souichi also bet on instantly checking and be saved preserving 2 seconds. To save souichi
thought, Baku who played this gamble,(he also said he would finish everything in the last second,
meaning he knew souichi would turn and ironically save himself), had a risk and that was that
souichi now know about Baku knowing echolocation, and thus making him reconnect with the
previous rounds (baku knew all of this as he said that souichi would connect the dots of the
previouses match because of this last play), and souichi after this would want to do a near death
play the next round because he wants to avoid risks, risks that were created by baku in order for
souichi to do this near death game in order to reset his squandered time and not die. That's what
Baku wanted from the time he played that gamble knowing that souichi would notice the necktie
trick (for him to avoid death) , Baku also planned that after this hint of him knowing echolocation
and after the next hint of his round (8th round 1st half) where he would take a full 60 seconds
without checking making him have a enormous disvantage, with these hints and the others that
Baku placed over the game, like the one in which he asked souichi about the clock before STL,
that too was a part of his plan to make souichi want to connect the dots, and to ensure his
advantage he (souichi under baku's manipolation)would die of the 8th round 2nd half, that's
beacuse he would keep the advantage and at the same time he would enter his cousciousness to
connect the dots with these hints and want to discover the leap second. It was shown that in
souichi's memories he saw baku's face laughing after his first near death (and this was another
hint of Baku, like when he induced souichi in his action with his mere aura during the 3rd round,
he did the same, he trasmitted while being "dead" the hint of the leap second all of this to create
an occasion where souichi would want to discover about it, guided by Baku's true intentions in his
bet in the 7th round and on the other hints, to manipolate souichi into achieving the secret behind
the leap second forcefully by doing another near-death injection. The reason behind this is to
save souichi, from the very first beginning the leap second from Baku should have been leaked at
the minimum and after clocking the time and perfectly manovrating every single action of souichi
in order to induce him into a situation where he would near-die in order to discover about it. And
when Baku did that bet (7th round) he already succeded as Baku fall without much expression
knowing that souichi would instant check creating a situation where he woild still be alive; Baku
knew that if souichi did this he would lose his memory in his dream that's why he could play this
move, from the very first beginning the leap second was a trap to make souichi pm want to
discover about it after all of baku's hints and after doing that since, Baku coincided perfectly the
leap second with souichi memory loss, he would still be alive after this death match of
surpassing the leader where one of them would die. This can be foreshadowed as when Baku
took the time card, he did think instantly about the leap second and since it's time related it can
overlap with souichi memory loss creating a situation where souichi would be alive, in fact
instantly after thinking about the leap second he turned to souichi saying in his mind "HAL" as
that there would be a possibility to save him. So basically this double-layered bet trap that baku
played in the 7th round was to make souichi want to discover about the leap second even
thought knowing he would have lost memories; just by this bet Baku created a situation where
souichi would have to risk it all otherwise like he said he (souichi)would have lost, so even
thought he knew ho would lose memory (since he talked to yakou about re-explaining the rules)
he would still have no choice but to die. And that mf of Baku who obviously know that exactly
after a month souichi would have lost memories, he played like this using the same leap second
that he used to win as double layered trap to save souichi, and since he knew that the perfect
mode has a time limit (seen in souichi's flashback in his consciousness during his 2nd near
death)he setup everything knowing he would win. At the time when souichi finally achieved the
secret of the leap second inside his memories, it was already late for him to return. Baku also
knew souichi would achieve leap second after his hints that's why he could have used it to save
him; after "HAL" returned Baku who was relieved that he was alive, proceeded to do the save
strategy in the 9th round to clock the time for the leap second and he knew souichi would let the
handkerchief before the 60 seconds that's beacuse his plan succeded and hal's action was the
remaining of the pm who discovered the leap second thanks to Baku, and Baku used that
moment also to make HAL feel how to be a gambler. In the end the leap second was not the only
plan for Baku to win but the only plan that would have overlapped souichi's memory loss to save
him from dying in a death match. At the end where souichi died because of the leap second of
4:58 of total accumulation, that Baku planned in order to save him, he saw the remains of souichi
pm and the fact that when he was saved he(souichi pm)lost, this was a representation of the
earnings of baku's efforts on a situation where saving souichi with that 2 seconds could have
lead him to disaster, Baku who felt fear for the first time nothingness, did overcame this knowing
from himself and from yakou's speech that he was the only and true winner; that was also the
illusion created by him and yakou where they wanted souichi to be alive and this fear cleared
baku's mental state where he was laughing after winning but actually was in a repentous state
(he wanted HAL to survive), but after he turned to do the final succeded check against PM in his
illusion, and after pulling the "you are a liar"he knew souichi would have survived that. Another
thing is that baku in this period felt for the first time the incapacity of thinking because of this
illusion as he said " This is the first time i don't know what to do" (Referring to him winning but
risking his all to save souichi this leading to this illusion where he wanted souichi to be alive) and
this do emphatize his actions in surpassing the leader as always being something within baku's
calculations (because even thought one who would see Baku from for example the referees'
point of view, would think that Baku is at an disvantage but in fact he knew what he should do
and what he has done was calculated)since at this time he knew perfectly what to do in order to
win and every single moment was him controlling literally everything. After re reading this arc
more times i have seen the clear domination of Baku, like there wasn't really one thing that putted
souichi pm at a "real" advantage in order to win, Baku who was pratically outbluffing, outplanning,
seeing through every action of leader and guided him to discover his own strategy in order to
save him but at the same time planning things to make him win regardless is absolutely
astonishing. The funny thing that i discoverd after an accurate analysis was that souichi wasn't
perfect beacuse he was in advantage but beacuse he perfectly esecuted baku's plan which did
semplify things for him(for baku), he was being so perfect in baku's perfect plan that when he
died for the first time baku was so surprised things were going so well that he thought he already
discovered about leap second. Anyway Baku was having the upper hand since the beginning like
he even told ryusei to call his mom to discover if the time range used in the developers room was
coinciding with one that would have used the leap second, turning from 59:59 to 59:60 and then
59:00, Baku absolutely predicted everything like crazy like he had to tryhard to both win and save
souichi while trying to let him find about leap second but at the same time without letting him
discover about it until he was out of the red zone (the moment when Baku made that bet to trick
souichi into discovering the leap second causing his own reset and thus could be saved) I feel
like people misunderstood things, like it's possible that after only a one-read, things wouldn't be
clear immediatly but after more and more analysis things would connect and baku's dominance
would show up, it can also be described as the fact that baku's plan was so perfect that it would
have been crazy as hell trying to find things; i also notic
ed that the author left things to be discovered by people like only giving hints moreover the
explained things were done trought referees, ranko, etc... and that would be an explanation on
why some hidden purposes like saving souichi could have been understood only by Baku
moreover by the reader if he empathizes himself on baku's character. So no souichi discovered
baku's leap second only thanks to baku himself who did this in order for souichi to reset his
squandered time, him losing memory was the risk souichi wanted to take in this action but ended
up forgetting things anyway since Baku lead him to a path of "it's either i save you and you forgot
the leap second so i win and you are alive" or "i win with the leap second without you even
discovering about it since i didn't let you create the opportunity for you to do it and you die" all of
this was decided by souichi in baku's bet that he set up for him in the 7th round after a long
planned way of accumulating the right amount of squandered time for both of them and clocking
the time for the leap second, and also partially leading souichi for the first answer (the one where
Baku could save him) Final answer: i think after this Baku is buffed as hell his planning,
prediction/foresight and anticipation, seeing through people, bluffing, misdirection, deception,
acting skills, direct and moreover indirect manipulation, aura, logical thinking and illogical
thinking, fast and complex thinking. The only thing i saw souichi PM being superior on (because
of lack of his feats in stl) were WMI and PSI because of him solving 2 imaginary rubix cubes at
the same time.
