Precision Fermentation

Precision fermentation is a method of producing proteins using genetically modified yeast or other microorganisms. It requires less land and water than traditional animal agriculture. Proteins can be produced using precision fermentation in bioreactors. While life cycle analyses show it can reduce environmental impacts compared to livestock, results vary significantly based on assumptions. Regulatory approval and consumer acceptance remain challenges. The EVERY Company produces egg white protein using precision fermentation and has raised $175 million in funding.
