ADOPTION OF TWO-WAY (2FA) AUTHENTIFICATION TWO COLLEGE EMAIL

ACCOUNTS

In a bid to enhance the security of the College G-suite Accounts, ICT will schedule adoption
of Two-way factor Authentication to email accounts by Tuesday November 1/11/2022.This
shall apply to both staff and students.

Two-way-factor-Authentication (Meaning)

This means that when one is logging into their email account a double verification method will
be used two verify the true identity of the individual accessing a particular email account. This
shall make use of your normal user credentials that you use to login to your account plus text-
code/or a smartphone authenticator app that will be sent to your phone to verify that you are
true owner of the account that you are requesting to access.

This will help enhance the security of you email account in such a way that in the case that
someone has gotten access to your credentials and would like to access your account without
your permission, they will be requested to supply a code that is sent your phone, therefore
barring them to further exploit your designated account.

Further to this, during the period between today 16 September and 01 November 2022 when
logging into your account you will be prompted to enable this feature within your account and
you will be directed to steps which will help effect the enabling of the google setting. This
implies that if your account doesn’t comply to this feature by 01 November, then you might
will be locked out of your Gmail account if your try to login starting from 02 November.

Below are the guidelines that your will prompted to undertake to enable the
setting in your google account after your login:

(Applies to both Laptop/Desktop and phones)

Step 1: After logging into your account, you are welcomed by this message Click
enroll
Step 2: Re-enter your normal password you use to log into your account here

Step 3: Specify your Mobile phone number that you will need to use as a second
factor to your password i.e., 884050141 and click next and choose to receive codes
by text messages
{NB do not select to pick any options from shore more options}
Step4:
A code will be sent to your phone number after you click to access this current page.
Check your mobile phone number and input the code into the confirmation box below

Step 5: Click turn on to enable two way authentication

Click the 9-button circled in red as below and click Gmail to go back inside
your inbox.
