3.8.2 Menginterpretasikan unsur kebahasaan (alliteration, hyperbole, and personification) lirik lagu

terkait kehidupan remaja SMA/MA/SMK/MAK

Activity 1 Read the explanation below!

A song usually contains figurative language, there are 6 kind of figurative language : alliteration,
metaphor, simile, personification, onomatopoeia, and hyperbole. In this section we only learn
alliteration, hyperbole, and personification

Alliteration :

The word alliteration comes from the Latin word latira which means “letters of the alphabet”. It is
characterized by a number of words, typically three or more, that have the same first consonant sound
within the same sentence or phrase. For example : “Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers” (This
sentence is alliterative because the “p” sound occurs repeatedly at the beginning of six words.

Hyperbole : hyperbole is an exaggeration or overstatement used for emphasis or effect. For example,
“I’m so hungry I could eat a horse” (is it possible if a normal individual can eat a horse?)

Personification :

Personification gives human qualities or attributes to non-human entities or objects. For instance,
“The wind whispered through the trees” (Have you ever seen the wind has a mouth to say something to
the trees?)

Tounge Twister

Tongue twisters are great way to practice and improve pronunciation and fluency by using alliteration

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream

A sailor went to sea to see what he could see, and all he could see was sea, sea, sea.

Fuzzy wuzzy was a bear, fuzzy wuzzy had no hair, Fuzzy wuzzy wasn’t very fuzzy was he?
