Answers:
From the case study, a group of twelve boys aged between eleven and seventeen

years from a local football team named “the Wild bears” together with their twenty-three

years old assistant coach, entered the Tham Luang cave. The monsoon rains were not

expected until the coming week; hence the boys visited the cave to stay for some hours

after the game before returning home to their parents. However, nature had different
plans, and the heavy monsoon rains began to fall as the boys were in the cave. The water

rose very fast, and the boys kept climbing higher for safety. A concern was raised by a

mother of one of the boys who contacted the police when her boy did not come home and

one of the team players who had not attended practice on that day told people that the

boys had planned to visit the cave after the procedure. Soon the rescue plan to save the

boys started. (Smith et al,,2020)

1. How Did The Physical Environment Of The Cave Affect The Rescue Plan?

However, the physical environment of the cave affected the rescue plan in various

ways. First, Tham Luang cave is isolated; there is no GPS access to the shelter, no Wi-Fi

or cell phone services at the cave; hence communication was a barrier. The rescue team

could not communicate with the wild bears. Also, the shelter had open spaces. The Thai

Navy seal divers and other divers who had volunteered to participate in the rescue

activity worldwide were accustomed to tropical open water in the cave. Besides, there

were dark, cold currents racing through the cave, which also affected the rescue plan as

the divers struggled to see, and in most times, visibility was negligible. (Kaufman et

al,2020)

2.
How Did The Rescue Team Respond To The Risks Of The Project?

The Thai Navy SEAL divers were slow to respond to the risk because, from the

case study, the divers arrived the following day and began pushing their way into the

Tham Luang cave. The divers were also not cautious about the risk project as they lacked

safety equipment that was needed for less expertise in caves where divers cannot just rise.
Although the divers were aware of the monsoon rains and the flooded cave, they did not

have their safety equipment. (Panphae et al,2020)

3.
Some Have Called The Rescue A Miracle And That Luck Was The Decisive Factor.

Do You Agree? Explain.

Yes, I agree that the rescue was a miracle and that luck was a decisive factor. The

divers finding a way through a complicated cave was not easy. Also, diving through a

dark place where no one could see where they were ending was a miracle. Besides, the

boys settling on the mud slope and water did not reach that point was their luck.
