The Bishop: In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
Please sit. The Bishop will offer words of welcome after which we pray together:
All Father of glory, holy and eternal, look upon us now in power and mercy.
May your strength overcome our weakness, your radiance transform our
blindness, and your Spirit draw us to that love shown and offered to us by
your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
The Bishop: Almighty God, who forgives all who truly repent, have mercy on you and
set you free from sin, strengthen you in goodness and keep you in eternal
life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
All: Amen.

CYHOEDDI’R GAIR
Yr Esgob: Duw ein Tad, diolchwn i ti mai trwy dy Fab y galwaist ni i gymdeithas dy
Eglwys fyd-eang, gwrando ar ein gweddïau dros dy ffyddloniaid, fel y
byddont yn eu galwedigaeth a'u gweinidogaeth yn offerynnau o'th gariad, a
rho i'th was Jarel yn awr i'w groesawu fel Ficer yn Ardal Weinidogaeth y
Rhath a Cathays, roddion o ras, sancteiddrwydd a chariad, trwy Iesu Grist
ein Harglwydd, yr hwn sydd yn fyw ac yn teyrnasu gyda thi yn undod yr
Ysbryd Glân, un Duw, yn awr ac yn dragywydd.
Pawb: Amen.
Fel hyn y dywed yr Arglwydd Dduw: Wele fi’n cymryd yr Israeliaid o blith y cenhedloedd lle’r aethant;
fe’u casglaf o bob man, a mynd â hwy i’w gwlad eu hunain. Gwnaf hwy’n un genedl yn y wlad, ar
fynyddoedd Israel, a bydd un brenin drostynt i gyd; ni fyddant byth eto’n ddwy genedl, ac ni rennir
hwy mwyach yn ddwy deyrnas. Ni fyddant yn eu halogi eu hunain eto â’u heilunod, eu pethau atgas
a’u holl droseddau oherwydd byddaf yn eu gwaredu o’u holl wrthgilio, a fu’n bechod iddynt, ac fe’u
glanhaf; byddant hwy’n bobl i mi, a minnau’n Dduw iddynt hwy.
Fy ngwas Dafydd a fydd yn frenin arnynt, a bydd un bugail drostynt i gyd. Byddant yn dilyn fy
nghyfreithiau ac yn gofalu cadw fy neddfau. Byddant yn byw yn y wlad a roddais i’m gwas Jacob, y
wlad lle bu’ch tadau yn byw; byddant hwy a’u plant a phlant eu plant yn byw yno am byth, a bydd fy
ngwas Dafydd yn dywysog iddynt am byth. Gwnaf gyfamod heddwch â hwy, ac fe fydd yn gyfamod
tragwyddol; sefydlaf hwy, a’u lluosogi, a gosodaf fy nghysegr yn eu mysg am byth. Bydd fy nhrigfan
gyda hwy; a byddaf fi’n Dduw iddynt, a hwythau’n bobl i mi. Yna, pan fydd fy nghysegr yn eu mysg
am byth, bydd y cenhedloedd yn gwybod mai myfi, yr Arglwydd, sy’n sancteiddio Israel.

THE LITURGY OF THE WORD
The Bishop: God our Father, we thank you that through your Son you have called us into
the fellowship of your universal Church, hear our prayers for your faithful
people that in their vocation and ministry they may be instruments of your
love, and give to your servant Jarel now to be welcomed as Vicar in the Roath
and Cathays Ministry Area, the gifts of grace holiness and love, through Jesus
Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy
Spirit, one God, now and forever.
All: Amen
Thus says the Lord GOD: I will take the people of Israel from the nations among which
they have gone, and will gather them from every quarter, and bring them to their own
land. I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king
shall be king over them all. Never again shall they be two nations, and never again shall
they be divided into two kingdoms. They shall never again defile themselves with their
idols and their detestable things, or with any of their transgressions. I will save them
from all the apostasies into which they have fallen and will cleanse them. Then they shall
be my people, and I will be their God.
My servant David shall be king over them; and they shall all have one shepherd. They
shall follow my ordinances and be careful to observe my statutes. They shall live in the
land that I gave to my servant Jacob, in which your ancestors lived; they and their
children and their children's children shall live there for ever; and my servant David shall
be their prince for ever. I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an
everlasting covenant with them; and I will bless them and multiply them, and will set my
sanctuary among them for evermore. My dwelling-place shall be with them; and I will
be their God, and they shall be my people. Then the nations shall know that I
the LORD sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary is among them for evermore.

Y Diacon: Gwrandewch Efengyl Crist yn ôl Sant Ioan
Pawb: Gogoniant i ti, O Arglwydd.
Daeth llawer o’r Iddewon, y rhai oedd wedi dod at Mair a gweld beth yr oedd Iesu wedi
ei wneud, i gredu ynddo .Ond aeth rhai ohonynt i ffwrdd at y Phariseaid a dweud
wrthynt beth yr oedd Iesu wedi ei wneud. Am hynny galwodd y prif offeiriad a’r
Phariseaid gyfarfod o’r Sanhedrin, a dywedasant: ‘Beth yr ydym am ei wneud? Y mae’r
dyn yma’n gwneud llawer o arwyddion. Os gadawn iddo barhau fel hyn, bydd pawb yn
credo ynddo, ac fe ddaw’r Rhufeiniaid a chymryd oddi wrthym ein teml a’n cenedl hefyd’.
O’r diwrnod hwnnw, felly, gwnaethant gynllwyn i’w ladd ef. Am hynny, peidiodd Iesu
mwyach â mynd oddi amgylch yn agored ymhlith yr Iddewon. Aeth i ffwrdd oddi yno
i’r wlad sydd yn ymyl yr anialwch, i dref a elwir Effraim, ac arhosodd yno gyda’i
ddisgyblion.
Yn awr yr oedd Pasg yn Iddewon yn ymyl, ac aeth nifer i fyny i Jerwsalem o’r wlad cyn
y Pasg, ar gyfer defod eu puredigaeth. Ac yr oeddent yn chwilio am Iesu, ac yn sefyll yn
y deml a dweud wrth ei gilydd, ‘Beth dybiwch chwi? Nad yw ef ddim yn dod i’r ŵyl?’
Ac er mwyn iddynt ei ddal, yr oedd y prif offeiriaid a’r Phariseaid wedi rhoi gorchmynion,
os oedd rhywun yn gwybod lle’r oedd ef, ei fod i’w hysbysu hwy.

The Deacon: Listen to the Gospel of Christ according to Saint John
All: Glory to you, O Lord.
Many of the people who had come to visit Mary saw what Jesus did, and they believed
in him. But some of them returned to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had
done. So the Pharisees and the chief priests met with the Council and said, “What shall
we do? Look at all the miracles this man is performing! If we let him go on in this way,
everyone will believe in him, and the Roman authorities will take action and destroy our
Temple and our nation!”
One of them, named Caiaphas, who was High Priest that year, said, “What fools you
are! Don't you realize that it is better for you to let one man die for the people, instead
of having the whole nation destroyed?” Actually, he did not say this of his own accord;
rather, as he was High Priest that year, he was prophesying that Jesus was going to die
for the Jewish people, and not only for them, but also to bring together into one body
all the scattered people of God.
From that day on the Jewish authorities made plans to kill Jesus. So Jesus did not travel
openly in Judea, but left and went to a place near the desert, to a town named Ephraim,
where he stayed with the disciples.
The time for the Passover Festival was near, and many people went up from the country
to Jerusalem to perform the ritual of purification before the festival. They were looking
for Jesus, and as they gathered in the Temple, they asked one another, “What do you
think? Surely he will not come to the festival, will he?” The chief priests and the
Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where Jesus was, he must report it, so
that they could arrest him.

1 My song is love unknown, 4 Why, what hath my Lord done?
my Saviour's love to me, What makes this rage and spite?
love to the loveless shown He made the lame to run,
that they might lovely be. he gave the blind their sight.
O who am I that for my sake Sweet injuries! Yet they at these
my Lord should take frail flesh and die? themselves displease, and 'gainst him rise.
2 He came from his blest throne 5 They rise, and needs will have
salvation to bestow, my dear Lord made away;
but men refused, and none a murderer they save,
the longed-for Christ would know. the Prince of Life they slay.
But O my friend, my friend indeed, Yet steadfast he to suff’ring goes,
who at my need, his life did spend. that he his foes from thence might free.
3 Sometimes they strew his way, 6 Here might I stay and sing,
and his sweet praises sing, no story so divine:
resounding all the day never was love, dear King,
hosannas to their King. never was grief like thine.
Then "Crucify!" is all their breath, This is my friend, in whose sweet praise
and for his death they thirst and cry. I all my days could gladly spend.

The Bishop We celebrate together the gifts and grace of God.
All We take this bread, we take this wine
to follow Christ’s example and obey his command.
The Lord be with you.
All And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
All We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All It is right to give our thanks and praise.
It is indeed right and good, always and everywhere to give you thanks and
praise, Lord, Holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Jesus Christ
your only Son our Lord.
Who consecrated those who obeyed his call to follow the way of the Cross.
Through him you have called those ordained for ministry in your Church
to proclaim the good news, to care for your people and to celebrate with
joy, the sacraments that you have given, until your Kingdom comes.
Therefore with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven,
we praise and glorify your holy name, evermore praising you and singing:
Hear us, heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord.
Through him accept our sacrifice of praise, and grant that, by the power of
your Spirit, these gifts of bread and wine may be for us his body and
blood;
who in the same night that he was betrayed,
took bread and gave you thanks;
he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying,
Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you.
Do this in remembrance of me.
