The scope of work described in this Method Statement involves the sequence of works, the
precautionary measures, safety procedures, technical details and execution of works of the
concreting placing boom “Al Hitmi Residential Building” project. (Main contractor Higgs & Hill)
2. INTRODUCTION
The following Method Statement will focus on the installation, use (including several replacements)
and finally the removal of the concrete placing boom. This document should be read in conjunction
with the following documents:
Safe access to and egress from work platforms will be provided as required and in accordance
with statutory regulations, depending on location. Proper edge protection shall be provided, if it is
not practicable to provide edge protection, safety harnesses will be worn, fixed to suitable anchor
points.
All operations will be completed during the designated site hours and all relevant noise regulations

5. RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Manager shall review the resources & methodology, which are implemented in safe
and efficient manner to carryout the works.
The Construction Manager is responsible for the coordination of interfaces with subcontractor
disciplines on the construction site and to ensure that the subcontractor workforce is executing the
work in a correct and safe manner to meet the programmes and schedules as per the construction
programme. To ensure clear unobstructed access and area for materials and equipment transfer to
the site so as to achieve concrete operations in safe and efficient manner.
The Section Engineer / Site Engineers are responsible for day to day supervision, coordination and
control of subcontractor and interfaces to monitor the subcontractor workforce is sufficient to
The Surveyor is responsible in carrying out all survey, setting out and alignment checks, line and
level is carried out as per the current approved drawings for construction.
The Foreman will be responsible for carryout the work in safe manner and control of the work force

to be provided for access to all concrete pour locations for proper discharge and compaction.
Ensure that workforce is wearing correct PPE. Sufficient light and safety at site has to be
arranged.
The Safety Officer will be responsible for conducting safety inspections and verifying the work to
meet the standard safety requirement, risk assessment, risk management at site, and
environmental issues which shall comply with Project HSE Plan.
6. ORGANISATION
8. WORKFORCE
Sufficient experienced work force will be engaged to carryout this task. No special requirements for
(additional) workforce.
This chapter describes all activities for installing (and re-installing) of the concrete placing boom.
Site set-up for concrete placing boom will be as per attachment #1&2 is shown in the plan and
sectional elevation. The concrete placing boom will be placed in the centre of the corridor between
the elevators. The concrete supply pipe will connect the boom with the concrete pump.
The documents of attachment # 3 explain clearly the method for assembly and installation of all the
parts of the concrete placing boom. The documents of attachment # 4 explain the technical details
of the concrete placing boom
Erection will be undertaken by specialist erection crew, employed directly by concrete supplier,
who is also owner of the equipment. It is their responsibility to operate and maintain the unit.
Upon arrival of the mixer truck on site the delivery ticket of each ready mixed concrete truck will be
checked and noted to confirm correct mix being supplied.
The slump test or visual assessment will be carried out on each load of concrete delivered to site.
Slump tests will be conducted from the Mixer truck prior to discharge on to pump in accordance
with BS 1881: Pt 102: 1983.
Slumping and concrete cube sampling testing are to be carried out by a concrete technician. The
concrete Technician will take cubes at the required frequency for each type of concrete delivered
to the site, each of these loads will also have a slump test taken from it.
Slump rate for concrete pours: 1 test / each truck. Each truck is then visually checked with an
estimated value noted on the concrete pour record sheet.
Any suspect load of truck, slump tested to confirm compliance is not meeting the specified slump
requirements, shall be retested in twice this also acts as a check to confirm accuracy of the visual
checks.
If a concrete delivery is found to be out of specification it will be rejected and sent back to the
Batching Plant. The next load of concrete delivered will not be placed until the slump test is
completed and found to be within specification.
The slump of the concrete is to be within the limits as per the approved mix design.
Traceability of all concrete placed on site will be recorded on the Concrete pour record sheets and
marked up on record drawings. These documents will be cross referenced to Work inspection
requests (WIR) and concrete test cubes
The concrete ticket number, slump achieved, number of cubes made and other relevant
information will also be noted on the Concrete pour record sheet.
The Batching Plant will supply delivery dockets for each load of concrete; these will be checked by
Higgs & Hill and forwarded to the Engineer.
The specific safety instructions and precautions for installation methods are explained in the
attachment# 5
The general safety and Risk assessment aspects are explained in the “Method statement for
General concrete works”.
All operatives will be given a general site induction by safety officer; the Site Supervisors will also
conduct a series of Tool Box talks and method statement briefings to the personnel involved in
operation. Attendance records will be regularly updated.
General PPE for all operatives will consist of safety footwear and safety helmets. Specific PPE will
be issued as necessary. Operatives working with concrete will use rubber gloves and will wear
rubber boots. Other PPE requirements will be addressed as the work proceeds and other hazards
become a factor i.e. working at the leading edge of a slab.
Extra lightning will be arranged, including mobile/handheld lights (two gensets to be arranged to
generate power for additional lightning)
There is qualified Male nurse available at “Al Hitmi Office building” site office for first aid treatment.
In the event of accidents immediately notify to the Project Manager, Construction Manager and
Safety officer as mentioned in section 6.0 Organisation. The accident file, which is situated in the
Site Office, must be filled in, if an accident occurs.
Evacuation from the work area should be via designated routes leading to the designated muster
points.
The Specific Safety risks and precautionary methods are explained in the attachment# 5
