2. PURPOSE
2.1 The Purpose of this document is to explain the inspection of the machined surface finishes.

8. PROCEDURES
8.1 Inspection:
8.1.1 Surface finish requirements for Wedge products are defined on the inspection report.
TSH-IP-53.0072, shall be used as visual acceptance criteria for in-process inspection
and first/last article qualification.
8.1.2 Thread surfaces, all root, crest, stab flank, and load flank surfaces shall be smooth and
continous from the start of the full form thread to the thread end. Due to multiple
threading passes during manufacture, steps may be found in the thread root. These
steps are allowable in the thread root only. The thread root shall be flat within 0.002”
total variation across the entire root in any place.
8.1.3 A visual surface finish comparator will be used to quantify seal surface finishes. The
repair of cometic damage of the threads of seals after machining is limited to the manual
(not mechanized) use of Scotch-brite type materials. Following repair, each connection
shall be visually inspected by trained personnel. If a repair was performed in the area of
a seal, trained personnel shall be re-blue the seal to verify conformance to the
requirements of drawing TSH-IP-00-0074.
