2. PURPOSE

2.1 The Purpose of this document is to explain the inspection of the First and Last Article.

3. PERSONS AFFECTED

3.1 This document is applicable to all:


3.1.1 All Tenaris Premium Connections Manufacturing Services Personnel.
3.1.2 Facilities licensed to thread TenarisHydril connections.

5. DEFINITIONS AND ABBREVIATIONS

5.1 Definitions and abbreviations are defined in the most current revision of TenarisHydril document
TSH-GP-00.0001.

6. RESPONSIBILITIES

6.1 Responsibilities are defined in the most current revision of TenarisHydril document
TSH-GP-00.0002.

7. PERSONNEL QUALIFICATION

7.1 Personnel qualification is defined in the most current revision of TenarisHydril document
TSH-GP-00.0003.

8. PROCEDURES

8.1 Inspection

One (1) first and one (1) last article inspection shall be performed to all orders containing lots in
excess of 10 connections, from each threading machine per lot producing connections for full
length, coupling, and accessories.

8.1.2 First Article Inspection:

8.1.2.1 First article inspection shall be performed at the following frecuency:


- Start of Production
- Following any equipment changes, i.e. tooling (insert change is not considered
tooling), machine crash, cold start, etc.
- Following any change in machining personnel, i.e. shift change, etc.
- Following any delay in production equal to or greater than eight (8) hours.

8.1.2.2 All product characteristics identified in the connections procedure and inspection
report (including visual and Overlay inspection) shall be evaluated on the first
article.

8.1.3 Last Article Inspection:

8.1.3.1 The last article shall be taken from one (1) of the last five (5) connections from
each machine. The last part produced shall be inspected 100% following the
requirements of 8.1.2.2.

8.2 Acceptance / Rejection Criteria

8.2.1 All dimensions shall be aimed to nominal, however, shall be within the tolerance window.
8.2.1.1 If the part offered for first article is found to be out of tolerance in any parameter,
the part shall be discarded and a new part shall be submitted for first article
inspection.

8.2.1.2 If the last article part is rejected, the inspector shall evaluate as many additional
parts as necessary to ensure that all defective items have been located and
identified.

8.3 Records

First and Last article inspections shall be documented in the applicable Inspection report form.
