CP.5 Introduction The Singapore Standard CP § : 1998 Code of practice for electrical installations has changed the colour code for fixed electrical wiring. The change is made under Amendment No. 1 to 8S CP 5: 1998, ‘The Amendment aligns the colour code for fixed electrical installation in Singapore with intemational standards such as BS 7671, IEC 60446, etc. which are adopted by the majority of the European countries, Scope of colour code change The colour code change affects fixed electrical wring only and excludes any household appliances or electrical equipment that draws electricity from @ socket-outlet through a plug. OTE eee SES Purpose of this guide ‘This guide explains the colour code change and provides guidelines for colour marking in pictorial representations according to the requirements of the Amendment No. 1 to SSCP 5: 1998. Terminology In this guide, the colour code introduced in Amendment No. 1 to $$ CP 5 : 1998 is known as “new” and the old colours ‘Le. red, yellow, bive) are known as “existing” Basic requirements for colour marking Itis important to understand the basic requirements for colour marking in the Amendment No. 1 to SS CP 5: 1998 as follows Core of cables shall be identified by: ‘a. colour and/or b. lettering and/or numbering.
