How to get a valuable
feedback for greatness?
5 STEPS THAT YOU NEED FOLLOW TO GET A VALUABLE FEEDBACK TO
BOOST YOUR COMMUNICATION SKILL.

PRESENTED BY THETHINKSCHOOL
Why take feedback?
What most people don’t know about public speaking is that it is a skill that is thoroughly based
on validation. It is just like the art of the artist. Which means, no matter how precious the art is
to the artist, until it gains the validation of the audience, it is not regarded as a master piece.

The same is the case with public speaking. However, you have a great advantage with this skill.
This advantage is that you can improvise your art before you showcase it to your audience and
just like a circus act you need to fail a 1000 times and get validated by a safe audience before
you present your act.

Advantage of validation
1. In the process of validation you will know the loopholes of your speech or talk and you can
prevent them from affecting your presentation
2. You can craft the most relevant and fascinating content for your audience without making
guesses
3. Once your content is validated by your audience, it will boost your confidence because you
would already know that you are going to rock the stage.
4. Valuable feedbacks can also lead to brilliant out-of-the box ideas that you must have never
thought of which will help you take your talk to the next level
5. Last but not the least, the learnings from the feedbacks will make you confident not just for a
talk but for any public appearance because you will become wise with each step.

5 STEPS TO GET GREAT FEEDBACK

PRESENTED BY THETHINKSCHOOL
Step 1:Find an accurate safe audience.
This group of people or your friend needs to fit
into your definition of the audience that you
are trying to present your content to. For eg: if
you plan to present in front of middle aged
people from the corporate, then your safe
audience must be a middle age person or a
bunch of middle aged people of a similar
background.

This will help you understand your talk from

their perspective because each set of audience
acquires a different perspective about a subject
depending on their experience.

Step 2: Practice your content thoroughly before you
present it to them
Most people underestimate the safe audience
and do not practice well before they present
themselves for the feedback.

Therefore, we insist you to practice your

content well before you present it to your safe
audience. This is because the most valuable
feedback comes from the first presentation
and the ones that follow will only create a
biased opinion and will not result in valuable
feedback.

Step 3: Ask the right questions (Ask your audience the
following questions)
1. Did you understand the idea/ story that I
just told you?
2. Could you please repeat what I just you in
your own words?
3. What do you like the most about my talk?
4. How do you think I can make it better?
5. If you were to ever present the same idea,
what would you do different and why?
6. Was my pace perfect?

Step 4: Evaluation
1. Note what they missed while they
presented the same idea back to you and
see if they grasped everything
2. If they couldn’t , try stressing more upon
those points
3. Note what they liked about your talk and
never loose out on those attributes. (For
eg: they might tell you, your voice
modulation is perfect or your stories are
great)
4. Note the shortcomings. (for eg: You might
be too fast or the words were not clearly
pronounced)

Step 5: Get better
1. Go back to the drawing board and begin to
work on the shortcomings without letting
best attributes go
2. Rehearse by recording a video and then
send it to them and see if they notice their
feedback incorporated in the video
3. After you get a thumbs up from them, try
sending it to another person or group
(People of the same category) and get a
thumbs up from them
4. With your sense of judgment validate your
talk and you are good to go

Pre-caution
1. Incase if your audience becomes over critical don’t worry at all because it is impossible to
incorporate every single feedback from every single person
2. Don’t ever fight back and argue with your audience if you get a thumbs down, it is pretty
normal. It just means that you are getting some honest feedback.
3. Listen more than you speak while taking feedback.
4. Try to be neutral and make sure you take the time to understand exactly what they have to
say instead of jumping to conclusions
5. Take a chill pill and get working ☺
