INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

Curly haired brunnete mother is sat on the sofa with darker

brunnete daughter in dark room, they are watching "The deep
house" on the tv with the mothers legs over the daughters.
They are both eating snacks like popcorn and Maltesers. They
discover the house they explore in the movie and Mum turns to
Katie (the daughter).

MUM
Imagine finding somewhere like this.

KATIE
Well I mean, there are abandoned
buildings just not under water and not
close to here.

MUM
Can we go?

Katie looks over at mum and stairs with a fed up and confused
look.

KATIE
*Sighs* what?

MUM
Well look it up on your internet.

Katie gets exited and rushed, her eyes have widened and she
has a big smirk on her face.

KATIE
really? ok, what do I search?

Mum stands up and starts to pick up the empty bowls their

snacks were in whilst looking and talking to Katie.

MUM
Well just search what we want, Ill
pause the movie whilst your doing that
and go clean up this mess, yeah?

KATIE
Okay! go on then.

INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT

MUM scoffs and walks away into the kitchen, she goes and
washes the dishes in the old fashion steep kitchen sink with
a large window just above. She looks up and down back and
forth at the dishes and the widow and sees a slight movement
near her tree in the garden. She squints her eyes and stops
for a moment, it moves again in a very slow but human way,
going behind the tree. She hears a sudden shout from the
living room...

KATIE
Mummmmmm!

Mum rushes to the living room in a panicked state.

INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

MUM
What?! Katie what?!

KATIE
Mum what's wrong?! calm down, your
panicking.

you can see Mum realise she might be hallucinating and over
exaggerating what just happened because of her past with
intense mental health issues and she begins to calm down.

KATIE
What happened?

Mum stops a moment to look at Katie clearly distressed, she

sighed and followed it by a comporting smile.

MUM
Nothing, you know how I get, it just
came out of no where. Why did you call
me.

KATIE
Uhhhhhh.. Oh! I found a place we could
visit, its like an hour away. Bit of a
coincidence how I found it really,
just kind of popped up on my for you
page.

Mum makes a sarcastic face, she says jokingly...

MUM
I'm telling you, there in you phones.

KATIE
*giggles* who's in our phones mum?

MUM
The government.

KATIE
Yeah alright, funny. Go to sleep mum.

Mum gets up and carries the blankets both her and Katie were
using, walking away to go upstairs.

MUM
ok don't say I didn't warn you Kate.

KATIE
Yeah, I think ill be fine.

Katie smiles as she watches her mum leave the room and looks
back down at her phone. She mumbles in a disappointed manner.

KATIE
hope we can finish the movie next
time.

INT. KITCHEN - NIGHT

Mum looks at the window when passing through the kitchen on

her way to the stairs and seems nervous and on edge.

ACT II
______

INT. KATIES BEDROOM - DAY

Katie wakes up in her bedroom, messy hair, smudged makeup.

She moans and wipes her face and eyes, Mum barges in the room
looking exited and like she has been up all night.

MUM
Katie, get ready and pack you bags. We
are off to that place you found the
other day.

KATIE
What place? you mean the place I found
last night?

MUM
Yeah, the place in Birmingham, I was
on my phone last night and the same
place came up on my Facebook. I booked
a hotel for the night so we didn't
have to get the train back afterwards.

KATIE
No way, not going to lie I thought
this would be one of those things we
planned and never would get round too.

MUM
I know, thought u might think that.

Katie looks at mum, scoffs and smiles in a happy and

appreciative way.

INT. KATIES BTHROOM - DAY

Katie is rushing in front of her bathroom mirror throwing her

products into her toilitry bag. She looks up into her mirror
and gets stuck on her reflection. She looks at her self for a
moment then hugs her self and takes a breath. She shakes her
head to get back on track and stop distracting her self.

INT. HOUSE HALLWAY - DAY

Mum is leant against the wall holding an old fashioned phone

with a cord. She is playing with the cord whilst waiting for
her best friend Lidia to pick up. She is rubbing her head
with impatience and turns around to put her head facing the
wall, she hits her head on the wall lightly whist still on
the phone waiting for an answer.

LIDIA
(over the phone)
Hello?

Mum has a relieved and happy look on her face, she sighs.

MUM
(over the phone)
Thank god, Lidia I know your in
Birmingham at the moment and I need a
chat face to face. I'm just freaking
out, I think my mental health is
getting worse again.

LIDIA
(over the phone)
I'm sorry, you know I'm too busy to go
out of my way like that.

MUM
(over the phone)
No. Me and Kate are going to
Birmingham anyway dont worry, you will
just have to meet me somewhere.

LIDIA
(over the phone)
Listen, I'm really sorry, I am. I just
cant help at the moment. If your
struggling so much why would you think
its a good idea to go all the way to
Birmingham WITH Katie? You know how
bad your paranoia can get.

MUM
(over the phone)
I know, I just owe it to her. I am
always making my mental health her
problem. Her dad has just divorced her
mum, she's only 17 she needs to do
something. We found this abandoned
place she liked the look of so we are
going to go explore it.

LIDIA
(over the phone)
What?! That might be the dumbest thing
I have ever heard you say, you just
said your getting bad again and now
your going to a random abandoned
building in Birmingham, right.

MUM
(over the phone)
I know, maybe ill meet someone new.
New crackhead boyfriend who sleeps on
the stairs. To be honest cant be much
worse then Mitch.

LIDIA
(over the phone)
Oh my god, dont even mention that
crazy bastard. Cant believe you told
him about your hallucinations and how
paranoid you get, you took years to
tell a doctor let alone a guy you were
with for 2 months. He kept a mouldy
mars bar under his bed.

MUM
(over the phone)
*laughs*

Katie walks out of her bedroom with a big bag of stuff she
has thrown in there for the might. Mum looks startled and
exited and puts the phone down with out saying anything.

MUM
All ready then?

KATIE
Uh, yeah. Who were you on the phone
too? Was it dad?

MUM
Oh. No. It wasn't Katie, please just
dont worry about it will you? For me?

Katie looks at Mum and nods her head, she puts a fake smile
on her face.

KATIE
Fine, when we leaving?

MUM
Right now if your ready. The train is
in thirty minutes, takes about twenty
to get there.

Katie is silent, she nods again and walks towards the door.

ACT III

EXT. WALKING TO THE TRAIN STATION

Katie and mum are almost at the train station, they are speed
walking and slightly huffing, Mum looks at Katie through the
side of her eyes. She sees Katie looking down on the floor
looking off.

MUM
You alright?

KATIE
Yeah.

MUM
Are you sure, you dont look it.

KATIE
*Giggles* Thanks. Was just thinking
that's all, you know its hard to talk
about what's going on in my head and I
know your my mum but-

KATIES TALKING FADES OUT

Mum gets distracted by a similar figure she had seen before,

this time it shows on her face that this time feels more
real. It appears to be the same figure she had told Mitch
about a long time ago. Mum closes her eyes whilst she is
talking trying to meditate and convince her self what she is
seeing isn't really there.

EXT. TRAIN STATION - DAY

Katie stops her and shouts.

KATIE
MUM! Mum stop, we are here.

Mum stops suddenly and takes a quick but big breath in

through her mouth, she looks around her and realises.

MUM
Katie I'm sorry. um, we are here
though.

KATIE
Yeah mum. We are. You almost walked
into the tracks.

INT. ON THE TRAIN - DAY

Mum and Katie are sat opposite each other on the train with a
table in the middle of them both. Katie is staring at the
window with her head wrested on her hand, Mum is looking at
Katie guilty.

MUM IS BOUNCING HER LEG UNDER THE TABLE VERY FAST AND
ANXIOUSLY.

Mum looks as though she gets an idea, she gets her phone and
is on it for a few seconds. She puts it on her head and the
phone is showing the 'heads up!' game. Katie takes no notice,
Mum pokes Katie and smiles at her. Katie tries to hide her
smirk at first and then gives her mum a proper smile.

ACT IV
______

EXT. OUT SIDE HOTEL - MID DAY

Katie and Mum arrive at hotel and look up, they both look at
each other and laugh.

MUM
(Sarcastically)
Wow this looks really good, right
Katie!?

KATIE
(Sarcastically)
Yeah mum, this isn't a shithole at
all!

MUM
(Sarcastically)
I try my best.

Katie looks at Mum sincerely.

KATIE
I know, its grate. I'm genuinely
really exited.

Mum looks at Katie happily.

INT. HOTEL LOBBY - MID DAY

Mum walks up to reception to sign in and we see Katie watch

Mum walk away. Katie watches Mum talk to reception and we
watch her smile fade a little.

INT. HOTEL ROOM - MID DAY

Mum and Katie jump onto their double bed for their room, they
spread their arms and legs our like they are doing a snow
angel.

INT. HOTEL ROOM - NIGHT

Mum is at the dressing table typing on her laptop and Katie

is asleep on the bed snoring. Mum looks over at Katie and
chuckles then we see a POV of Mum looking at the time. Mum
gets up and peaks through the hotels curtains revealing it is
dark outside. Mum walks over to Katie and gives her a light
nuge.

MUM
Katie wake up, its dark lets go
explore.

Katie wakes up looking confused and rubs her eyes.

KATIE
*moans* Oh shit, its dark?

MUM
*laughs* Yes! get up lets go

INT. HOTEL CORRADORS - NIGHT

We see Katie and Mum walk out of their room with a backpack
on Mums shoulder. They are both walking towards reception.

MUM
You exited?

KATIE
I actually am, yeah.

MUM
Do you think its going to be hunted?

KATIE
*laughs* come on Mum. No, I dont.

Mum looks at Katie and smiles.

EXT. OUT SIDE OF ABANDOND BUILDING - NIGHT

WE SEE THE BUILDING IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF MUM AND KATIE.

Mum looks at Katie and makes an exited but nervous face.

MUM
Ok lets go, what are u waiting for?
Your not scared are you?

KATIE
*laughs nervously* Oh my god, really?
no if anything you are.

MUM
Hm if you say so.

Katie suddenly looks to her side and squints.

MUM
Katieeeee, hurry up.

Katie stairs in that same direction for a second longer and

slowly catches up with Mum. They arrive at the main door in
the house and it appears to be closed up by wood planks.

KATIE
Ugh, I knew something bad was going to
happen. Now what?

MUM
Wellll...

Mum pulls out a crow bar with an impressed look on her face
and Katie rolls her eyes in a playful way. We see see Mum
staring to try pry open the door. We time skip to Katie
laying on the floor on her phone then hearing a small noise
in the distance, she turns her head and sees a very faint
head with a black mask and a long beak. Her face appears to
be numb and she just stairs. Katie has a flashback of her mum
and her.

FLASH BACK STARTS.

INT. KATIES OLD BEDROOM - NIGHT

Mum and Katie are sat on Katie's bed, Mum is holding Katie's
wrists and looking into her eyes whilst Katie is crying.

MUM
I sometimes get a similar things to
nightmares you know?

Katie starts to listen closer.

MUM
Do you know what I do? I hold my hands
to my eyes, and I rub my eyes lightly
in circles. I take a deep breath in
and out and count too three. Then just
like that nothing is there anymore to
hurt me, and I'm not scared.

We see Katie smile at her mum lovingly and she begins to do

what her mum advised her to do.

EXT. OUT SIDE OF ABANDOND BUILDING - NIGHT

We see Katie still on the floor and still starring at what

she thinks she is seeing, She puts her hands up to her eyes
and begins to rub them in circles

KATIE
(Whispers)
One, two, three

She opens her eyes and sees nothing there, she sighs and
chuckles very quietly.

KATIE
(Whispers)
I'm just like Mum.

MUM
What?

KATIE
What? never mind, nothing.

MUM
Right well look at this!

Mum reveals to Katie she had gotton all the wooden planks off
of the door.

KATIE
No way, well open it!

MUM
You do it.

KATIE
Ok fine.

Katie pushes open the door and it takes a couple of tries

since it drags on the floor when it is pushed. The inside of
the house is revealed to them both and Katie takes the first
step forward followed by mum.

INT. INSIDE THE ABANDOND BUILDING - NIGHT

We see Mum and Katie walk around the halls, they are looking
around taking it all in.

KATIE
Wow this is cool.

MUM
This better than it looked on
Facebook.

Mum and Katie adventure off to upstairs and we see them look
into a couple rooms. Katie is ahead and gets to a room with
an old 2000s tv on a stand, and an old two person sofa facing
towards it. There appears to be something written underneath
Katie goes closer to read it and it reads 'I thought you
would like to finish the movie ;)' "The deep house" starts to
play on the tv.

FLASH BACK STARTS

INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

Katie is in the living room saying the same thing at the

start of the movie that she said to her self with no one else
around.

KATIE
Hope we can finish the movie next
time.

FLASH BACK ENDS

INT. INSIDE THE ABANDOND BUILDING - NIGHT

Katie sees this and freaks out, she turns to get out and get
to her mum and the door is closed. Katie pushes the door a
couple times and it opends.

KATIE
(To her self in a panicked voice)
That door wasn't fucking closed
before.

Katie is rushing down the halls screaming...

KATIE
MUMMMMMM!

Katie catches up to mum and mum turns and looks at Katie

concerned.

MUM
Katie what? Are you ok?

KATIE
Mum, please do me a favour and dont
say anything, I just need you to trust

me. We need to leave right now please.

MUM
Um, ok, ok lets go.

Mum and Katie rush to the door where they came it and they
see the door has been boarded up with wooden planks.

MUM
Did you do that Katie?

KATIE
What? NO! What the fuck is going on.

MUM
What have you seen to want to leave
Katie?

KATIE
I- Ugh, I dont know. I can show you.

MUM
Ok, show me.

Katie leads Mum to the room she was in before with the tv.
The door is once again closed. Mum sees the tv playing the
movie whilst standing in the doorway.

MUM
Isn't that the movie we were watching
the other night?

KATIE
Yes mum.

Mum moved closer to the tv and reads the writing below the
tv, she turns to Katie.

MUM
I feel sick.

Katie looks at Mum back and nods. Mum looks around a bit more
and sees two love hart picture frames. One with Katie's dad
and one with Mitch (mums ex).

MUM
Did you see this before?

Katie starts to walk over to see what mum is talking about.

KATIE
See what? I pretty much ran straight
out.

Katie sees the pictures Mum is looking at by leaning over her

shoulder.

KATIE
Is that dad and your ex boyfriend?

Mum looks at Katie with widened eyes and nods. Katie looks at
her Mums expressions.

KATIE
Ok lets get out.

MUM
Um, I kind of realised downstairs I
didn't pick the crowbar back up, its
out side.

KATIE
*sighs* Its fine we will just have to
jump out of a window.

Mum goes to open up the windows curtains and sees they are
bricked up, Katie sees this too and rushes over to the other
window and peaks through to see it is bricked up too.

KATIE
Fuck.

Mum and Katie rush to to the other rooms and try and find a
way out, we see them go to the back of the house to find a
backdoor and everything is boarded up.

KATIE
Mum go to the front of the house and
take the planks off with a chair leg
or something i'm double checking the
rooms upstairs.

Mum rushes to the front the house to take down the planks,
Katie rushes upstairs and checks more of the rooms. She opens
a couple of doors and gets too a laundry shoot. She opens the
laundry shoot with a couple tries. Her eyes widen whilst she
stairs at her dad, alive and tied up.

DAD
*mumbles*

Katie looks at dad and cries.

KATIE
Dad. Dad what happend whats going on-

Katie begins to cover eyes, rub them in circles and counts to

three.

Dad stairs at Katie and a sharp spike impales through his

mouth. Katie is left stairing at her dead dad and stairs for
a few seconds before closing the ludry shoot.

KATIE
*Screams*

She rushes downstairs to see her mum bleeding out on the

floor and it appears she has been stabbed. Katie falls to the
floor crying and rips the bottom of her t shirt to wrap
around Mums stab wound on her stomach. She tries to rip off
the last plank and she sees something in a black mask again
run away behind the stairs. Katie cries harder.

KATIE
Mum im getting us out.

Katie keeps on trying to get the wood down from the door and
she ends up doing it. She picks up her mum and lyes her
further away from the door. Katie opens the door to reveal a
bricked up wall.

KATIE
NO. NO. Shit.

Katie turns to see the man stab her in the chest whilst
looking into her eyes. He pushes her to the ground with the
knife in her chest and pulls it out whilst shes falling over.
He takes of his mask to reveal it is Mitch, Mitch watches as
they slowly die and try to hold each other as they are dying.
