1. Introduction

The title of the seminar is ‘How to ensure prolonged students’ achievements’ in which
it focuses on the role of the teacher to manage their students in order for them to
maintain their success. In specific, the webinar event is being held on 23 rd October
2023 from 2:30 until 4:00 pm. The event is being organized through the digital
platform, Google meet which allow the number of participants up to 100 people.
Moreover, the honorable invited speaker who is responsible to share some insights
with the audience regarding the topic is Nur Hazwani Binti Abdul Hadi. For more
information, the respected speaker is an expert in Social and Emotional Learning
Research for Malaysian context and also a dedicated Ph.D. candidate in Psychology.
Currently, she is enrolled in a program at Deakin University in Australia. Moving on,
this webinar aims to provide the clues on how to maintain a healthy social and
emotional state especially for those involved in education. Throughout this webinar,
the participants will be enriched with a lot of knowledge and skills to become good
students and also excellent teachers. By applying these knowledges in the future, the
webinar also aims to improve the efficiency of students in their studies.

2. Knowledge or Learning Acquired

Based on the webinar, we have learned that Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)
does play a vital role in helping the students to achieve their goal without giving any
negative impacts towards their spiritual and emotional state along the way. Based on
what I have learned, SEL is able to improve students’ academic performance by
helping them to set positive and achievable goals. Other than that, SEL play the role
to employ positive attitude towards themselves and others in which the students
learn how to initiate positive environment around themselves. I also learned that by
embracing SEL, the students will be able to reduce their emotional distress through
various ways and opportunities. One of the examples that is being highlighted by the
speaker is by embracing their own favorite hobbies and activities in their free time,
they are able to set their minds at ease. Lastly, the benefit of SEL towards the
students is to guide them on how to handle problems more effectively as to prevent
the problems from hindering the development of the students. As for the teachers, I
learned that SEL will benefit them in many ways in their pedagogy and their teaching
strategies. The speaker includes many ways to implement SEL in the classroom
such as giving explicit instructions towards the students, creating supportive
classroom climates and also to integrate SEL elements while learning academic
content.

3. Observation
During our webinar, I observed that our speaker has sufficient knowledge as she
passes on a lot of useful information towards the audience. The speaker utilizes
variety of visual graphics and data to support her statement in order to attract the
attention of the audiences. I also observed that every student is engaged in the
conversation, participating with the speaker, and paying attention enough to pick up
new information. In the QnA session, there are several students who directly ask
questions towards the speaker to dive more into the topic. This shows that they are
all focused throughout the whole webinar session.

4. Strengths
Based on our experience in conducting this webinar, there are several bonus points
that I have managed to identify. First of all, the selection of the invited speaker is
done very well as because we need to consider the speakers’ expertise and prior
knowledge before inviting him or her for the webinar. As a result, we successfully
manage to secure a slot for an invited speaker during her free time to deliver some
knowledge in our webinar. In addition, since our speaker, Nur Hazwani Binti Abdul
Hadi, is an expert in the field of Social and Emotional Learning, she can impart
knowledge flawlessly in accordance with the assigned topic. Apart from that, the
promotion of our webinar is being carried out excellently in order to get maximum
participation from other students. Our marketing poster is well-designed along with
the registration form to smoothen the registration process. Then, based on what I
have observed, the technical glitches and other connectivity issues are handled
professionally by our team members in order to counter the problem during the
webinar. Consequently, our webinar went smoothly without any major problems
happening along the way.

5. Weaknesses
Obviously, even though our webinar went smoothly without any major issues
hindering the objectives, there are still some shortcomings that have occurred.
Firstly, our webinar lacks the elements of interactivity as the speaker mostly uses
one-way presentation platform which limits the opportunities for the audiences to try it
themselves. Moreover, the Q&A session is the only part where the audiences are
allowed to interact with the speaker to ask further questions. In addition, for the post-
event details such as feedback forms and e-certificates, there are some issues where
it takes a lot of time to distribute these appreciation forms towards the participants.

6. Conclusion
To summarize this, our project implementation (webinar) has went as planned initially
in our group proposal. From this webinar of ‘How to Ensure Prolonged Students’
Achievements’, it has given the audiences so many inputs towards the notion of
healthy learning system. The participants are receiving adequate knowledge
presented to them about the ways to control their emotion during learning and to set
positive goals. Since the speaker includes the implementation of SEL in the
classroom, this can also affect the teachers in term of how they are going to regulate
the lesson. Once again, this webinar will not go according to the plan without the
cooperation of all committee members and also the audiences. The professionalism
that is being potrayed by my team members has led to the success of this program
and it gives us more motivation to conduct a similar program to this in the future. If
applicable, we are going to improve our technicalities for our future webinars and
also provide more interactive features so that the participants become more engaged
