1. Safety Matters

Be cautious! In order to avoid any major personal accident and electric shock

accident, be sure to observe the following rules:

1. 1. We have already taken the security matters into consideration when designing and

manufacturing this welding machine. Be sure to read this manual and pay attention to the

following safety notices, otherwise accidents may occur.

2. The construction and installation sites of input power, high-pressure gas usage, storage

and configuration should obey the related regulations and the internal standards of your

factory.

3. Please have the professional qualified operator to carry on the installation, inspection and

the maintenance of the machine.

4. Do not touch the electrified positions and exposed wire.

5. During the installation and inspection, you must cut off the main power.

6. Please do not use electric wire which is under capacity or the exposed wire caused by

damaged insulating sheath.

7. When the machine is working, do not enter your hand, arm and other parts of your body

between the electrodes.

8. Before electrifying or filling gas, please make sure the security situation around the

welding machine.

9. When stop using, please turn off the main power, compressed air and cooling water.

10. Ensure regular maintenance, and filling lubricating oil regularly

Operation Condition:

1. Voltage Requirement: The Voltage of machine should not be less than ±10% of rated

voltage. The cross section of power wire should not be less than ±10% of the standard

type.

2. Air Requirement: compressed air pressure≥0.8MP, and ensure no moisture and oil.

3. Cooling Water Requirement:Cooling water pressure≥0.1MP,Water Temperature

≤25°C,Water flow≥0.6L/Min.

2. Description

Electric resistance welding is one of welding technologies. It utilizes the resistance

when current passes through work pieces and welding contact surface to generate heat

and give pressure on the welding part to achieve welding effect. It has the features of

high efficiency, low production cost, material saving and easy for applied to automation,

etc. Widely applicable to aerospace, automobile, power source, electronic, hardware and

so on. Welding machine can be divided into AC pulse welding machine, secondary

rectifying welding machine, three phase low frequency welding machine, capacitor

discharge welding machine, medium frequency welding machine, etc based on different

power source. As the development of scientific technology, especially the progress of

computer technology and power device technology, medium frequency inverter welding,

as a kind of latest controller, has been fully developed. Due to the features of high quality

and low consumption, it will dramatically replace low quality and high consumption AC

welding machine, capacitor discharge welding machine, secondary rectifying welding

machine and so on.

3. Applicable Area:

Especially suitable for precise welding copper, aluminum-nickel, molybdenum, tungsten,

manganese, gold, silver and other nonferrous metals and precious metals. Widely

applicable for battery industry, electric light source industry, automobile, medical device,

optical communication , micro motor and high welding required electronic industry, such

as welding of chip inductor, wire coils and metal wire of high temperature enameled wire

/ ultrafine enameled wire (minimum can weld 0.02mm), welding of nickel cup, kovar

wire, CCFL, fuse, filament, etc.

4. Advantages of Medium Frequency Inverter Electric


Resistance Welding Machine

Medium frequency inverter DC electric resistance welding control system, as the

following picture, three-phase AC will be converted into DC after being rectified. Then

the DC will be converted into medium frequency 1000 HZ square wave to be connected

to primary welding transformer through the inverter circuit which is composed of IGBT.

The MF square wave will become small pulse DC to the electrode for welding work

piece through the depressurization and rectifying process in the welding transformer. The

inverter will adjust the duty ratio of IGBT through the feedback primary or secondary

current so as to achieve constant current of the welding process.

The Main Advantages of MF Welding

1) The current in secondary welding loop is DC. Dramatically reduce the impact to the

welding current due to the inductive reactance in secondary loop when conducting

welding to the work piece.

2) Three-phase balanced load can reduce the requirement to the power supply system. The

power factor is close to 1. No electrical inductance, so no need to adjust the power factor.

3) Eradicate the contamination to the power supply. It is a kind of environmentally friendly

welding method. No need to provide power independently. It is able to be used together

with robotic welding system.

4) Reduce power consumption, energy saving. Reduce the requirement of cables and lots of

maintenance cost.

5) The weight of transformer is reduced greatly. It is light and convenient. The weight and

size of the MF transformer is only 1/3 of the AC type transformer. Suitable for robot

welding system.

6) Increase the heat input efficiency. The output of welding transformer is DC voltage,

without the disturbance of inductance. Pure DC has no defect of zero passage. The

efficiency of heat is enhanced dramatically.

7) Intelligent digital full-closed loop control. The welding control current will be more

precise. The adjustment precision and monitoring precision is 20 times higher than the

AC system. Be able to protect the inverter and transformer.

8) Increase the stability of the welding technology. DC welding technology is good and the

welding parameters are of wide application. The secondary current could achieve actual

constant current. Have better using prospect than AC.

9) Digital control can better improve the current control and measurement accuracy. The

welding time precision is ms which can help you control the welding time at random.

10) Be able to weld aluminum and galvanized metal with good welding quality.

11) Especially suitable for welding three-layer metal sheet or very thin material and precision

welding requirement.

12) Precision inverter DC resistance welding. Higher inverter frequency, more accurate

control of the current.

5. The Functions and Features of Control System:

The control system is composed of controller, medium frequency transformer, and

welding work pieces. The controller contains controlled rectifier, energy stored part, IGBT,

power source driver, and control center part, etc.

1) 101 sets of programmable welding models, 96 sets of seam welding models. Be able to

select the model directly when welding;

2) The function of welding spot current increasing progressively, efficiently solve the

instability of welding effect caused by current shunt when doing multiple points welding;

3) Be able to set the preheat current, welding current and tempering current, efficiently

prevent the splash during the welding and work piece quenching after welding. The 3

electric pulses can be set separately and combine separately or freely;

4) Be able to slowly increase and decrease the current, effectively avoid the splash and

defective nugget formation during welding. Be able to obtain excellent physical

performance.

5) Be able to weld special material, special for welding Aluminum, galvanized metal and so

on with ideal welding effect.

6) Counting function. Efficiently count the number of time of welding, number of use of

electrode and grinding for better output calculation and machine management.

7) Function of Single spot welding , continuous spot welding;

8) Malfunction checking and self-protecting function. During working process, controller

will automatically close the output current and friendly remind the reason of malfunction;

consumption of transformer, significant effect of saving energy;

10) Convenient installation and operation. In the MF inverter welding equipment, the

volume of transformer has been decrease dramatically compared with common AC

transformer. The whole machine is light in weight. Convenient installation and operation;

11) Communication and BCD code control function. Be able to connect to industrial

personal computer, PLC and other upper control device so as to achieve remote control,

automation management , with higher efficiency;

12) Adopt DSP and PLD as main control unit. The electric circuit is simple, high integrated,

intelligent. Decrease the rate of malfunction. Easier maintenance.

6. Technical Parameters

(1) Input voltage: three phase 380V , 50 HZ/60HZ, power source fluctuation +10%/-20%;

(2) Output voltage : two phase PWM output 550V ( Adjustable before leaving factory);

(3) Output current : depend on the model;

(4) The maximum value can be set to 65535, adjustable according to real conditions

( Adjustable before leaving factory);

(5) Cooling water: flow 6L/MIN,temperature ≤28℃;

(6) Working environment temperature : 0 - 50℃;

(7) Air valve specification:AC220/AC110/DC24V(set before leaving factory).

7. Working Method

The controller has 2 working methods: common spot welding and seam welding (being

modified in “Factory Setting”). Spot welding can be divided into common spot welding and

continuous spot welding.

(1) Spot welding :After the start signal, it will begin to weld. After finishing welding, the

completion signal will appear. Every welding model has its own “Start” signal. You may

allow or forbid the start.

(2) Continuous spot welding: During the continuous spot welding, if Start signal keeps

effective, output of solenoid valve will be cut off after maintain time and electrode will

move up. Then off time is effective. During this process, the welding point can be

changed. After off time, solenoid valve closes again and next welding process will start.

system operation, factory setting, touch screen setting, permission password input,

permission password cancel, and contact information;

 Second level permission: basic permission for accessing to the system operation,

contact way, boot system .Suitable for operator, factory password :2222;

 Third level permission: access to the welding model record. Suitable for general

manager, factory password: 3333;

 Fourth level permission: access to parameters setting, and touch screen setting.

Suitable for senior manager, factory password: 3333;

 Eighth level permission limit: access to factory setting, storage of build-in data related

to manufacturer. The password will not be given.

occurs or need the technical support.

10. Equipment Installation:

1.The installation of the welding machine should keep more than 20 cm distance from walls

or other objects, in order to prevent the accident caused by overheating.

2. Welding machine should be installed near the transformer room. Keep the machine fixed

with foundation bolt, or put rubber pad. Meanwhile, do the horizontal adjustment.

3. In order to ensure the safety of person and equipment, be sure to make good grounding

device

4. Combined with welding tooling when installation, tooling must be totally insulated from

the machine body.

5. Connect Control box and host. According to the corresponding marks, connect wires or

connectors, and pay attention to check the reliability of the contact

6. Connect the suitable tube to the compressed air. Reliably connect the air-in rubber tube to

connector of the air source processor. Open the switch of air source, and adjust the air

pressure to 0.8 MP. No allows the leakage. Please use the pressure-tight rubber tube

bearing 0.8 MP or more.

11. Welding Preparation

(1) Check the flowing condition of cooling water: First connect the external water source to

the inlet tube. Open water valve to check the flowing condition of water.

(2) Check the air pressure and the flowing condition of air source: Connect the compressed

air to the inlet connector of triplet air combination. Open the air valve switch and adjust

pressure reducing valve, right for increasing pressure, left for reducing the air pressure.

(3) Power source wire connection: Connect the suitable power according to different model

machine.

(4) Start the button of Power Source Operation, red indicator of power source lights on.

12. Welding Test

Choose suitable work pieces for test according to machine model. Choose the suitable

air pressure. The setting of welding current follows the principle of adjustment from small to

large to guarantee no blowing fire and no loose welding

Welding is relative to the following parameters. You must confirm the values before

welding:

(1) Welding current strength ( Power of machine model)

(2) Electrode pressure

(3) The material and the dimension of electrode tip

All these parameters are related to each other. If one of them changes, the others need to

be modified appropriately. The minimum welding current strength exists to each work

piece. If lower than the minimum current, welding is not available.

13. Welding Machine maintenance

1.Fill the lubricating oil to the mechanical motion part every shift.

2.Before each time of working, you should adjust the machine. Then start working after

confirmation of no abnormal situation.

3.Air filter assembly, stored air tank should discharge the hydrops regularly. The water

volume of the water cup should not exceed 1/3. The oil in lubricator should not be less than

2/3.

4.The surface of work piece and the upper and lower electrode should be smooth and clean.

Should adjust the electrode tip regularly because the metal or dirty object will attach to the

electrode tip which can lower the welding intensity and impact the work piece appearance

and service life of electrode.

5.Blowing-in the compressed air to water gap each week to clear all the dust and dirt of the

cooling water channel.

6.Because of the electromagnetic vibration, the bolt and nut of any part of the machine will

start to loosen. You should check and fastening them regularly.

7.After stopping the machine, you should clear all the things on the working tables to keep

it clean.
